sorry i had to shout but it is too great that after 10!! years something finally happens (changes) at Steinberg.

So let me share some "first-hand" information here:

Update will be there 6th of September 2004
MASSIVE NEW FEATURES, to name a few:

Audio Warp (Ableton Live Warp Engine fully implemented)

Play Order Track (Pattern Arrange)

Inplace Editing (Edit Midi/Audio directly in the Tracks !!) and generally enhanced workflow.

User Workspaces (fully customizeable Workspace, colorizing etc)

External FX Integration

Will run NATIVELY under forthcoming 64-bit Windows XP and Tiger OSX !!!

MIDI Device Maps and about 60 more features.

I hope i could please some of you with this little teasing and share a little bit of my euphoria.

Enjoy-Have Fun-Peace 2 everyone !

Do you really mean Ableton Live Warp Engine,
or rather Ableton Live like Warp Engine?

I couldn't see one reason why Ableton should license its Warp Engine to a (then) direct competitor... :?

seems like wavelab 5 will wait a little longer here ...

Can you elaborate on this at all? What does this mean?

Seems like all the big sequencers are taking a big step forward in the next month. Glad to see it. The new Samplitude sounds interesting too.

Well that was quick. But...it all sounds promising. What's this "Externl FX Integration" thing you speak of??? I have no idea what that would mean. The warp engine sounds nice....i'm not familiar with Live though....i tried it when i was shopping for a sequencer....but couldn't get past the interface (i like bright shiny objects). Didn't steinberg team up with live and put out the "Remix" program a while back.....there seems to be a shred of alliance between them, makes a bit of sense to me that they'd lcense the warp engine. What exactly is that though? Like i said, don't know Live at all, so i really don't have a clue. anybody care to help me out with an explanation? 8)

It's all rather pointless imo if they don't fix the bug where automation gets lost/screwed up if you freeze a track. If they can't clean up their (rather critical) bugs, why should I get excited about new (and probably) buggy features?

The list is great!

I'm a bit afraid of the possible bugs.

I ASSUME I can run version 2 and 3 on the same machine....

But of course - especially with the Press Release today of Sonar 4.

Maybe it would have been more professional to post their own release re SX3 at the Steinberg site. But, I guess different companies have different marketing methods.

This way at least they can introduce the "Live Warp Engine" confusion making people get all excited thinking it's Ableton live.

Unless of course that's what it will indeed be!

:D

how do you know they haven't fixed it? All that list says is a few new features. i'm sure they've done something with it.

Peace!

Oh, I don't know if they fixed it or not -- that's why I wrote if. My point was that, having lost hours and hours to a painfully stupid bug in what was supposed to be one of the main selling points of cubase sx2, I'm much more interested in having a working product than in having a product with more neat, gosh-darn broken things to waste my time with.

I'm sure they've done something with the bug, too - I just hope they fixed it.
