Hi folks. My home studio here in the UK is all powered through recently-purchased Bestek surge protectors. Unfortunately, despite it being a modern flat, my studio is on the same circuit as my washing machine.
When the washing machine was turned off today, I heard a loud pop through my monitors. This pop registered on my audio interface too (i could see the peaks on the metering). Thankfully the gear I had powered on (computer, synths etc.) seemed fine afterwards. Do any of you know if I should consider this to be a power surge, or something less worrying? Should I replace my surge protection?
I'm in rented accommodation so I can't do anything about the wiring. I've looked into power conditioning and UPS before and after discussing with manufacturers of my equipment, I find that decent surge protection is best for my needs. Cheers, Paul

I run everything through an old UPS. Decent one, got it dirt cheap about 12 years ago. The battery has been dead for years, but I didnt want it for that, and all the power conditioning works perfectly as is.
