This past weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing Toots and the Maytals live at the Bob Marley Roots Rock Reggae Festival. I have listened to their records in the past, mainly the greatest hits millenium collection. I was delighted to see how amazing Toots still is, he is like a preacher, his voice is so amazing and affecting. He just gives love to the band to the audience, I like him live alot better actually. So the next day when I heard that they had a live album I immediately went out and got it. The record has some of my favorite song on it like, Pressure drop and 54-46. The original recording has been re-masterd and re-released for your pleasure and mine. Check it out at

I've seen Toots live at my college twice over the past two years. They've been great both times. The first time they were the headlining act, but the second one, they opened for the Roots - that was the third best show I've ever been to (after Jean-Michel Jarre's show to celelbrate Moscow's 850th anniversary and Yes's concert in New Hampshire, US with Rick Wakeman).

So sad to hear this. Many reggae legends have passed the last few years.
54-46, your number is up! The energy in his music will continue on...

RIP, another rightfully named Legend. Heck of an influential career.

That's sad.
