Hi I am thinking about buying a 12" Powerbook G4, I wont primary use it as a music computer, but I want to be run tracktion and some other musicapps for fun. What latency I might expect using the built in soundcard?

Hi David,
Im not trying to be smart here but it will really depend on the spec of the machine your looking at, what else its running at the time and the complexity of the instrument/fx you want to run.
I have Absynth running standalone on my 800mhz G4 outputting through a firewire 410 with LOTS of other apps running at what I consider a respectable 10ms buffer setting - works fine for me...
Lighter synths like the CM101 would enable a lower buffer setting but they also need a host to run so who knows... in this respect I find Tracktion to be quite lite compared to Cubase SX.
If you could demo the G4 with something like Tracktion or Rax and a couple of VSTi's installed you should get a clearer picture...
