Looks like the main differences are that the Beats version is only 8 MIDI Tracks & 2 audio tracks, less sounds than the standard version (the new free version includes the 3 synths & 1 expansion, F9 Instruments) no Next Sequence function or Arp from first glance. But you can also use this as a drum plugin as well.

As an MPC Live/software user, I agree that this would be a decent free tool to flesh out some drum loops. It sounds like it also includes the Live's 3 synths and it's fx, so that's actually pretty good for free. Most are reskinned Air plugs /fx.
The sample chopping is quite good as well.
There is definitely a learning curve to acclimate to the MPC work flow. Anyway, for free a potentially handy drum tool.

I rather see it as a free demo of how MPC hardware lineup works, how the synths & FXs sound like and as such if it's really for me, as a POTENTIAL user.Schmidi wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:12 pmAs an MPC Live/software user, I agree that this would be a decent free tool to flesh out some drum loops...
I was eyeing Live or One for couple of months already, so I'm definitely going to check it out!

Anyone know if it's possible to export a project created in MPC Beats (with no 3rd party VSTs or preset packs, obviously) to One or Live if I decided to get one eventually?

Most likely you can export the individual tracks as audio files and reimport it into any DAW.antic604 wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:30 pm Anyone know if it's possible to export a project created in MPC Beats (with no 3rd party VSTs or preset packs, obviously) to One or Live if I decided to get one eventually?
Obviously you cannot really export the project as such, so that a carbon copy of all your settings, sounds and MIDI would open in Studio One or Ableton. Every DAW has a different project file format and there isn't really a universal format that works for all DAWs.

No, no. I meant MPC Live or MPC One. And apparently it works. Does it require iLOK software manager?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I filled out the form several hours ago, and haven't seen a download link yet.
I was just curious if others got a response any quicker than that ?
I am thinking maybe, if the demand was high, inMusic might be trying to keep their servers from melting down.
Sounds like it might be kind of a big download (2 GB library, from what I read).
EDIT: Well, it seems like Akai might not like Yahoo email addresses.
I filled out the form again using a different email address this time, and got a link in about 15 minutes.
Hopefully this helps somebody else who's sitting there waiting.

Beautiful GUI, if only Studio One had fonts that were as brilliantly clear and bold as those.... sigh. All they need to add is the Midi Track Recording side of things, and you pretty much have a new DAW on the block. I just noticed I've got a 8 Pad & Knob Akai Controller sat in front of me, I picked up for 15 quid. Don't use it that often though, and is more of a protection block to put the Studio One Editor Keys keyboard on, which lays upon my second tier synthesizer lol. Still, if any company can enter the DAW market with something new and innovative beyond the beat side, Akai will definitely have the means to do that. It would I think give Native Instruments something to think about if they did.

On Windows it default installs to the C: drive which is really annoying. Same with the add on libraries. I think you can move them after the fact though.
Some nice features in this software. The random events and humanize are fun.

MPC Beats is the Ableton Lite or Bitwig 8-Track version of the MPC 2.0 software. The standalone MPC software loads the same project files as the software. I would have been surprised if it didn’t work.antic604 wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 7:54 pmNo, no. I meant MPC Live or MPC One. And apparently it works.
