Annoyance is a great weapon of choice in pop music. Obviously I have studied these things. If your track does not really annoy some people, it never will be a popular track. Rule nr. 1: @nnoyance rules:

It's not that you are forced to eat, but it will be the annoyance, that you have to eat against your will, which makes you eventually eat. To eat or not to be.

I meant that absolutely literally.
One note in the bass to the exact rhythm of the "kick" in the one-bar loop.

the melody of One Note Samba changing at bar 9 (not counting whatever intro)
is described in the lyrics: Now the new one is the consequence of the one we've just been through.

the standard changes: ii7 of ii; bII7 of ii; ii i7 = ii7 of iv; bII7b5 of V and so on (twice)
(IE: Dm7 Db7 Cm7 Gb7b5) which we're going to replicate all the functions of at the new pitch level.
which gives us twelve notes even omitting all of the fifths except the last b5
The song does not exist except with the changes.

I think the one bar loop with one note in the bass locked in (because it's exactly copy/pasted or there is one track in the file, more would be superfluous) is somewhat new but I wouldn't know a lot about that.

More examples of songs that are basically one loop:

Pink's "What About Us" is just the same piano loop ad nauseum. They add some percussion during the chorus, but that's about it.

Camila Cabello's "Havana" is the same concept, with a stock loop from a Latin music library.

Flo Rida's "Low" is not much more than a looped drum machine beat.

One other thing that annoys me is what I call "Lyrics Taxation" - when the song uses so many of the same words that you wonder if they don't have to pay taxes on the number of different words used.

Meaghan Trailer-park-trash is one of the worst offenders. "Gives You Hell" by the All-American Rejects is another.
