Hi! First post here. I just bought my Gullfoss today because the promo videos were absolute bonkers. As soon as I got it I decided to try it on a song and it was doing fine but after a few minutes i noticed it was doing absolutely nothing to my song despite of how much i started to mess with the parameters. I press bypass and there's no difference AT ALL. I remembered the parameters and restarted the plugin and i had to input everything again and guess what? I started doing what it was supposed to do, but i kept the song playing with these garbage settings and started fading to true bypass again despite the curves were showing right. I press bypass and no difference again. The gain output control seems to work properly if i crank it up. What is happening? :dog: :dog: :dog:

I am using FL Studio 20 and AKG K553 MKII Studio Monitoring Headphones.

Edit: Whenever i get a new vst i like messing with it DRASTICALLY so i can hear what it's doing, in this case it always fades to sound like bypass.

Does the graph move and shows what it should be doing?
Maybe try it in another DAW?
Try a null test. If that really shows that the plugin isn’t working and doing anything, I’d write for support to SoundTheory.

Yep, it moves, the output levels can be cranked up and they work right, i will perform a null test as soon as i get off work! Thanks for the advice :)

Null test throws weird results, I have the song on bus 1, and the same duplicated song on bus 2, I reverse polarity on the first one and as soon as I throw Gullfoss it into the mix I can hear sound, washed out but there is sound even though i havent tweaked anything at all. After I tweak a bit, it fades to the first washed sound. I have tried other EQ's and i can just barely hear a thing with those. Weird. It also seems like Gullfoss Bypass is not true bypass at all because i still can hear the sound when i press that button, i have to deactivate it from the rack.

Any alternatives for this VST?

Have you hit SoundTheory support already? They’re very quick and thorough.

I agree that you should contact support. As for an alternative, in terms of an auto-dynamic EQ, you can try Izotope Neutron maybe? Gullfoss's algorithm is proprietary so obviously nothing is going to sound exactly like it.

No, there are no alternatives to Gullfoss, but a lot of people use it without problems.
If the null test is done correctly and it shows a difference (not only by listening, but by analyzer), it does something. As the plugin probably has some latency, you need to put GF on both tracks and internal bypass it on one.
Be a aware that there can be material where Gullfoss doesn’t actually do much.
What do you actually expect it to do? Have you tried it on other material, e.g. on vocals for deessing, where the effect might be more obvious?

Okay, I reached SoundTheory as soon as I wrote this, gave them all the specs needed and they replied that they don't know what is actually going wrong, so they offered me a refund with my receipt, to which i sadly had to say yes. I also recorded the screen with asio so they could know i was no joking haha

Update: I actually solved it by downgrading the version
