:D ive got a good thing going at the moment.. lots of music to write and all the sound effects to produce for a company ... it's going to keep me well busy right now..

all of those fees have been sorted out and settled upon,,

right...

they need me to record loads of voice actors.. to be used in with the project..

if'll be driving 4 hrs+ to get there.. recording using my own equipment... i'm guessing they'll need a couple of sessions.. 3hrs per session .. then i'll sort it all out after we're finished..

what an ideal rate...?

i have rough ideas, but i'm not sure if i'm off track..

i was thinking along the lines of what i would get if i were sitting in a studio for a session.. 150 eu for a 3 hr session.. and add the normal petrol rate on top..

so 400 for the day...

suggestions would help...as i can wait a week to get this one sorted..

ta :D

Definitely add another £100 or so on top for the stress of working with actooooors darling.

£25 an hour for your time, £25 an hour for your equipment hire, travel time...dunno, but expenses obviously (prob the same)

Don't know about Ireland, but you should have a musicians union there somewhere (hopefully online as well?) Over here it's the AFM (American Federation of Musicians) and TMA (Toronto) for me. So whether or not you're a pink'er...Member - you should check them out to see what going 'scale' is these days over there, and set your price accordingly to cover 'incidentals' such as petrol and booze. ;)

If they think you're 'too much' (as we all do here. ), barter. If that doesn't work, tell them their little show things going to suck with 'cheap talent' on it. ;)

:D yep .. i'm a paid up member.. i should have thought of that..

Hi ya Claire!

The company I work for wont let me leave the office to go fix a clients machine for less than €80 an hour - and the server room is right next door... and they wonder why the arse fell out of the IT industry :)

But really your time has got to be worth at least somewhere like that - you are providing a specialist service to them on your own gear...

HTH
