Don Leslie has passed away

At age 93, the inventor of the Leslie speaker has passed away quietly in his California home. I know it seems a bit off topic here at KvR, but several people who visit KvR either use one of his speakers, or one of the many products designed to emulate a Leslie. This includes several VST effects that have been designed to emulate his speakers. I just thought a few of you might want to know.

Poor guy must be spinning in his grave....

Well, I wouldn't laugh too hard if I were you, considering that you have to be well past 93 years old yourself, if you've been waiting that long to tell a joke. At your age, too much amusement and excitement can be dangerous.Steven West wrote:- I waited 93 years to tell that joke!

I'm sure Don had a very good life, and I certainly respect his contributions - as I'm sure many will for years to come...
But they had to bury him in a 'cabinet'?

Hopefully you'll be fortunate enough to gain the respect & admiration of a multitude & have someone publicly urinate on your passing as well.Steven West wrote: But they had to bury him in a 'cabinet'?![]()
I'll keep my eye on the Obituaries for you just in case.

A grand fellow. His speakers made a lot of lives just a bit better; no Hammond was ever complete without one.
Thanks for the sound, Mr. Leslie. I salute you.

Doug, who will tinkle the church's Hammond a bit tomorrow.

Me wonders how you'd feel if someone mocked your life's work.

I'd laugh with them. Especially when I got to the honest age of 93!Amberience wrote:Me wonders how you'd feel if someone mocked your life's work.
Some more "we-believe-that-we-are-pc" comments anyone?

Its nothing to do with political correctness. I f**king hate PC people. Its about respect. Its just not very respectful to mock somebody when they've just died and makes you look like a c**t.

Amberience, I don't think "mock" is the right word for what you are trying to say. The comments above make light of the old man's passing, but aren't deriding or jeering the fellow's work at all. Laughter is the best medicine as they say.
Either way, I'm sure the guy is resting pretty well after having lived a good, long life and creating a sound that is instantly recognizable and much adored.
