First off, I was thinking of making a sampleset that would rely on donations. So I would release one sampleset (like acoustic guitar-pickup), and after 10$ was donated, I would release another sampleset (acoustic guitar-muted). I also need a host for the samples if anyone would be willing to do it...but this wouldn't be for a while. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

Bump?

Well i think the idea is not bad, but if you want many donations the soundssets must be REALLY great in terms of soundquality and so on :)

sound is vibration, vibration is life

And maybe say what the next sampleset would be so that people would want to donate to get it. For example, if the next sampleset was "Acoustic Guitars: Cheesy Pop Song Strum" (sounds like a sampleset that I'd really like) and someone who was looking for sounds like that sees it, they'll want to donate $10 to get it. $10 for samples isn't that much (as long as they are good samples).

i tend to look at it as are you doing anything else?
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

..always pithy and to the point!!

I would say that the soundsets would have to be good. There a are many really good free sounds (SF2s included) so something that stands out would be what people would donate to.

What did you have in mind as an opening set?

I've been finding all the samples I need so far for free, so while $10 dollars isn't much I'm not sure how much interest you would get.

If there is something really special about the samples then I might change my mind. Really high quality, obscure sounds I can't get elsewhere, etc..

A set of loops in different styles might be more interesting, especially since it is hard to reproduce the feel of a guitar played live using samples of notes.

Here is something I would pay for:
I would pay for a site that makes it extremely easy to find the loop/sample I need right away. Something well organized that I can see the style, tempo, instrument, format and a good description that lets me quickly pick the loop/sample I need. Finding a sample or loop currently is very time consuming process. Give me a better way that works and I'd pony up some money for that.

Exactly what I wanted to hear. I was thinking of a simple picked string on each string up to 12th fret on my acoustic. The thing that makes these samples different from most acoustic guitar samples is the pickup. Most other samples are taken by recording the guitar, but mine use a pickup (usually used for live performances). I still can't find anywhere to host my samples.
