How do you use all these synths in a single track? Are you sampling them for single hits or are there several layers going on?

Post

Congratulations on getting all these synths running on Windows XP! Especially Powermonger 12 which is nearly impossible to run anywhere, let alone Windows XP.

To the untrained ear, it sounds like a repetitive arp/drum loop with nothing happening. However, careful analysis with an oscilloscope reveals dozens of synths creating layers of supersonic variation audible to dogs. This could be the first PupStep track!

This groundbreaking work has raised the bar setting the new standard in plugin usage and composition! :ud:

yes, every synth is contributing to each of what the untrained ear perceives to be a simple
bass, arp or purcussive sound. i am using "this plugin" as the bridge to run them all under XP.
with some slight code hacking i did myself. Pupstep is uncharted teritory for me, but it
has been neglected for too long by most musicians. its time to get those pups moving
like they ate 50 scooby exstacy snacks!

layzer,
When I was much younger, I could occasionally hear ultrasonic alarm systems: very annoying. There was this photo lab (before digital photography, you young whipper snappers!) that I walked into, and there were extremely high frequencies happening in there that I could barely stand. I mentioned it to a guy working there, and he said only one other person had commented on that before. And that photo lab was there for a long time. So now I wanted to hear what PupStep sounds like. Apparently, I can't hear the ultrasonic sounds, so I guess my ears are now untrained. Yes, quite repetitive, though some interesting sounds. If it had more melodies happening, it would interest me more. I would challenge you to come up with more riffs per song in the future. But if you're happy with your creation, that is all that matters.

Too much aliasing.
And cramping.
I mean even the aliasing is cramped.

you really are missing out not being able to hear the ultrasonic content in the
song, because it is incredibly complex and evolving riding seamlessly on what appears
to be some boring loopfest. thanks for trying to listen, however.

Ah, that makes sense. I'll have to put my virtual studio room software into 'old-school mode' and listen again.

You see?

Decent expensive synths, and hundreds of them, sound so much better than that freeware crap, in your capable hands. Great track.

ikr? what was i thinking making all those garbage tracks for years on my soundcloud using mostly freeware synths when omnisphere and all the commercial instant musical talent synths everyone uses was what i really
needed all along :dog:

Musically the genre is outside my typical zone, but as usual your mix is excellent, everything crisp and clean. Time well-spent. :)

Best,

Bravo! Encore! The most amazing music I have ever heard in my life!

See what you can do with all those expensive synths. And you've been fighting using them all this time. Embrace the abundance!

thanks for taking the time, this is the first track i've ever made
using the best of the best there is as far as SW synths go.
i had to do ALOT of track freezing and the project took
forever to load every time i opened it, something
i never encounter using my free synths. it was a fun experiment for
me, but i think i will stick with my usual combination of free and older 32bit
commercial synths.

thanks wags... that kind of praise coming from a master composer
really means alot. its never been a fight not using commercial synths for me.
i just like the simplicity and light cpu usage many free synths offer.
i can usually shape the sounds from them to exactly what im after
using outboard effects on some of the effect-less synths.
my workflow is fast and uncomplicated.
