Ovox Vocal Resynthesis vs. Izotope Vocalsynth 2?

Hello, I am able to get Vocalsynth for 26 USD (from friend) and I really dont know if I should buy this or wait for BF and get Ovox. I would like to make lead vocals with it (Daft Punk, 24K Magic intro, ..). What do you think?

Ovox sounds better and has all the fun modulations. Vocalsynth uses less cpu with less flexibility. Both are handy. Since I already have Ovox and many things that cover the ground that vocalsynth does, I didn’t bother past the demo.

If you want a fully vocal controlled and modulated synth, there isn’t much that can compete with Ovox. All the other bits and pieces in VS are fine, but not much that isn’t available for a much smaller cpu footprint elsewhere and often in things that are included in your DAW.

Now since Izotope is selling all of their stuff for less than $50 these days that may change things. For $25 I might give it a go on some projects. I just always saw it as covering ground that has been well covered before with some simple effects tacked on to make things sound shinier.

Clearly you haven't used both.
Vocalsynth doesn't have LESS flexibility, it has different flexibility.
There's nothing like i.e Biovox in Ovox. Also every single of 5 modules can be customised - synthesis type, harmonics, tuning.


Then, you also have sidechain mode where you can vocode with external synth, and midi vocoder modes...
waves ovox on the other hand has more powerful modulation, but core sound offers much less flexibility than Vocalsynth.

To be honest, while their functionalities partially overlap, they excel at completely different areas.

I've had both and prefer Ovox. It's a classic case of YMMV. What I will say is that I find the presets much more inspiring and tweakeable for useability in Ovox. But then someone will come along and say the opposite. Or you shouldn't use presets. Fair enough, sho nuff

Both have demos available... Easiest and fastest way to see which one fits best.

I hear this argument all the time: demo it... But you do not turn into a knowledgeable user within the demo time. Asking experienced users is still valid. Based on that, especially with an answer like Plokis, it will be helpful if you start to demo both...

You won't get away without some research yourself though. And with research, I don't mean "What to buy???" questions on a user forum.

That said, buy Ovox. It sounds better.

Sounds better doesn't tell much, I can make anything sound good and better.
Which one is more interesting would tell more but not much either. Being concrete with tips what is interesting, and those who have both, what does one do the other can't, is useful information...
