The most "revolutionary" plugins of the last 5 years?

I've been out of the game for a few years, but I've been using plugins since the very beginning (used literally over a thousand of them throughout the years). So now that I'm back, I wanna know what's new. And I don't mean the new compressor/eq/VA synth that sounds a little better, but actual new concepts that take production/composing/mastering to a whole new level.

I'm talking plugins like izotope neutron (with it's AI mixing, which is still pretty basic, but it's a new way to aid mixing), Illformed Glitch (which made a new genre basically), Massive (which revolutionized dubstep), etc...
(for electronic music btw, so not into guitar amps or recreations of old gear)

Any ideas are welcome.

I'd say Gullfoss / Soothe / DSEQ / Teote, etc. "perceptual" EQ / balancing stuff:

Trackspacer, aka "clever" sidechain ducking:

...and Bitwig, obviously ;)

I think ARA + the new Melodyne versions; Izotope RX plug-ins; creative convolution like FoG Convolver; unmixing plugins like Regroover; crazy articulations in both orchestral and instrument libraries like Karoryfer Snowkiss; and the amazing increase in free instruments from e.g. Spitfire Labs and Pianobook.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. And as for Bitwig, it really is revolutionary; I've actually switched from Cubase to it lately, as it's just so incredibly intuitive and inspirational, it makes other DAW's seem ancient in comparison (not that it doesn't have its share of problems, ofc).

Will check these out ASAP. If any more plugins/synths come to mind, let me know

Awesome! In terms of instruments I don't think there was a lot of revolutionary stuff, other than perhaps virtual modular stuff (VCV Rack, Softube Modular, Voltage Modular) personally I have a soft spot for Phaseplant, which is very Bitwig-ey in its workflow, but is quite expensive you you want to go all-in, which is the bundle to go for sadly:

There's also ...Reason's Rack as a VST, but that's probably compelling only if you were/are Reason user, but nevertheless is quite special:

Whenever it's about revolutionary or innovative plugins I'd take a look at Zynaptiq. I think Adaptiverb was released within the last 5 years.

I‘d say MPE.

Try a ROLI Seaboard or similar controller with a compatible synth. It may not look it, but ROLI‘s Elements is of course nicely matched to the Seaboard and lets you play synth sounds like an acoustic instrument.

Apart from that, physical modeling like madronalabs‘ kaivo might be a great fit for an mpe controller
