To the Reason Users on KVR:

I am pleased and proud to announce that Hollow Sun Classic Instruments, the Dangerous Bear Underground Reason ReFill based on the Hollow Sun vintage instrument sample library,is now available for preordering. This is the whole collection up through August(if you follow the site, then you have an idea of what's up for volume 2) available on cd in NNXT format.Hollow Sun Classic Instruments is just the thing for people looking to voice Reason with cool old-school sounds. It's stuffed with ARPs,Moogs,Korgs,Rolands,Hammonds and many, many more classic and obscure synths, drum machines, electric pianos, organs and electrical noisemakers of all kinds. The ReFill also includes original dBu NNXT patches,ReDrum kits, rex loops and rns files with effects and modulation routings.

Price is $30US,and shipping will begin September 17th.

Due to a delay in the building of our website,dangerousbear.com,the cd is currently available on ebay. When the dBu site is ready,we'll be handling sales from there. But don't wait,be the first in line for this important vintage sound collectiion

This is the first commercial product from Dangerous Bear Underground, and the first in our series co-developed with the excellent Hollow Sun website. The Hollow Sun library is soon to be made available in VSampler and SF2 formats. There's also another ReFill in the pipeline, this one focused on drums and featuring more ReDrum kits and rex loops based on Hollow Sun's classic beatbox samples. In fact, that's the title,Hollow Sun Classic Beatbox, the perfect companion for Hollow Sun Classic Instruments. In addition to our Hollow Sun projects,dBu is currently working on a drum and live beats library, due later this fall, called Dangerous Drums.More news about all this later.

Ok,I need to clarify a little and apologize. It turns out that the way I have set up the ebay thing for Hollow Sun Classic Instruments was screwy in that it is structured as an auction for a single item and not a fixed price sale of many individual units.Sorry that that was so confusing, and I hope that you will excuse me for this being the first time I have used ebay.

So,what I'm going to do is this:Until I have dangerousbear.com ready, which I still hope to have next week,I will take preorders by email for shipment beginning the 17th of this month.Write to john@dangerousbear.com with your real name,Yahoo user group,tunejet.com or kvr nickname, and your email and physical addresses.I will then send you a paypal money request.Once your payment is confirmed, your disc will be sent out on or after September 17th,on a first-come,first-served basis.

And,to make up for any confusion or annoyance caused by this snafu, everyone who preorders and pays during the preorder period(now through 9/16) will recieve an exclusive bonus FreeFill of more original dBu Hollow Sun-based NNXT presets. This will include a preview of some of the sounds from Volume 2 of Hollow Sun Classic Instruments.

I hope that this straightens things out and clears up any confusion caused by the ebay sale format. So many of you downloaded the first FreeFills thatI consider this whole enterprise a success already just to have been able to share this amazing vintage instrument library. And I think that you'll really enjoy having the whole collection bundled up in a single ReFill. Thanks again to all of you for your interest and support.

To make the release of Hollow Sun Classic Instruments even more exciting,we're having a contest.Specifically,if you make a demo song for the ReFill, you may win a free copy.

All you have to do is create a song in Reason using only instruments from the dBu Hollow Sun FreeFills and submit it as an mp3 to www.dangerousbear.com/contest .The ftp username is contest, the password is contest. There will be 5 winners, and the winning songs will be posted on dangerousbear.com for all to hear. And,to make it even more interesting and fun, there's a new free ReFill. This one's a preview of Hollow Sun Classic Beatbox, the companion to Classic instruments which focuses on Hollow Sun's amazing vintage drum machine collection, with all-new ReDrum kits and loops based on their sounds.

To get Classic Beatbox Free,or any of the other dbu FreeFills,go to www.dangerousbear.com/freeware and download it.If you need them all,you can download them all at once by clicking on the zip file dBu FreeFill.Another place to get dBu FreeFills is www.tunejet.com ,the online music community successor to computermusiconline.com,who have been a huge help to the Dangerous Bear enterprise.

Contest Rules:

1:All entries must be created in Reason using only sounds from Dangerous Bear FreeFills.

2:Entries may be no more than one minute in length and must submitted as an mp3.Upload your entry to:
www.dangerousbear.com/contest
username:contest
password:contest
Please include your name and email address with your submission.

3:The period for contest entries is from Thursday September 9th to Sunday,September 19th.

4:Five contestants will win the first prize of a free Copy of Hollow Sun Classic Instruments and have their song posted on dangerousbear.com as a demo for that product. One Grand prize winner will win the position of official dBu demo creator, and be the person who creates the featured demo songs for all our Reason products.Which means that he/she gets them for free, for one year.If you buy the ReFill now, winners will be refunded.

5:Contest entries remain the property of the creator, but the act of submission constitues a grant of publishing license to Dangerous Bear Underground for one year.In other words, you give us permission to post your music on dangerousbear.com at any time during the next year.Dangerous Bear Underground will not sell your music without prior arrangement and consent,or misrepresent its authorship, and makes no further claim of ownership or rights.

Thanks again to everyone who has downloaded the FreeFills for your support.I think that you'll like the commercial releases. This is only the beginning. There's much more to come for Reason and for other formats. We will continue to develop for the Hollow Sun library and are recording our own original sample libraries.Stay tuned, the best is yet to come.

Don't forget that Monday is the deadline for the Hollow Sun ReFill demo competition. The five winners will recieve Hollow Sun Classic Instruments and have their song posted on dangerousbear.com.The grand prize winner out of those five will be the official Dangerous Bear Underground Reason demo artist for one year, and therefore have his/her music posted whenever we release a new Reason product, and recieve all of them for free.I'll have some news soon about what's in the pipeline.

Your competition entry must be submitted in mp3 format,be not more than one minute in length, and made totally from sounds contained in the three Hollow Sun FreeFills.Deadline is Monday,September 20th,2004.To be precise, the literal deadline is midnight,PDT,3am EDT,Monday night.Upload your entry to www.dangerousbear.com/contest .You will need to use ftp client software to do this,by the way.I personally have used cuteftp, which has a 14day free trial.I can tell you for a fact that this software works, but there are many others out there, some of which are free or free to try.The username for your upload is contest, the password is contest.

I can't wait to hear what y'all come up with.Good Hunting.

Floyd,

Welcome aboard, better late than never! That's midnight PDT tomorrow,Monday night 9/20,3am EDT Tuesday morning.I am in the Eastern Time Zone of North America.

If I may be allowed a moment of candor, whoever's in by the time I wake up Tuesday is in.And If you have any upload trouble there will be an allowance for that,if your email reporting trouble is in by the deadline. But this is on the honor system.I'm taking everything and everybody in good faith, and I am sure that we will all be fair and reasonable to each other.I want as much participation from as many people as possible, therefore I will be very liberal in my interperetation of the deadline.Just get it done as fast as you can.And besides,it's all for fun anyway.I am really looking forward to hearing these sounds in action.

Good hunting,Floyd,and to everyone participating.

Ok, thats fine. Been working on my track tonight and its almost done. Is the 1 minute limit totally strict? I can get my track under 1:30 without alot of problems, but 1 minute I'll have to chop the ending rather abruptly.

Think you're really gonna like this track, I'm a bit surprised how well it is turning out!

edit: oh, and there is no filesize limit? So its ok to upload a fairly high bitrate vbr mp3?

Declan, you're telling me?I'm trying to get this company started and Squids has me spending more on his stuff than I am on developing mine! Sonic Synth 1 was too good to pass up,as was Cameleon. Now I need to upgrade to ST2 full version and do SS2,then Squids drops the 'tron bomb on us.People,y'all need to buy this ReFill just so I can support my Sonic Reality habit! :help:

I'm doing this on a just-in-time inventory basis.I can make as many cds as I want as I need them,so if you don't win one, there'll always be one here for you to buy when you're ready.

A couple of songs I did myself should be up on my site later tonight.I'll let you know.

Floyd,I've written you an email.

OK,for those of you having difficulty uploading, try this:

username=contest@dangerousbear.com

You may also need to address ftp.dangerousbear.com/contest from your ftp software to get in.

This is what I have gathered from reading cpanel's ftp account creation page.I'm going to try it in a minute to make sure it works properly. But I really do think the @ part of the username is the problem,or rather that I forgot about it.And because I should have realized that from having created other ftp accounts on this server,I think that I owe y'all a grace period until 1800 PDT tomorrow(6pm),2100(9pm)EDT.

Those who have entered already may polish and resubmit in that time,I haven't listened to anything yet,and won't until then. But 6pm Pacific,9 Eastern,2am GMT is absolutely, positively it.Winners will be announced on or before Friday,September 24th,2004.

Meanwhile, check out a couple of songs that I did using this ReFill.

Declan,

I just got your email,so I'm looking forward to hearing your piece.Hope you like what I've done.

That Squids is rather fiendish, isn't he?But seriously,I love SR as a company for what they represent in terms of quality and service. It is a role model for dBu.If I can be half as good as Squids et al,that I'll consider myself a winner and blessed.
