What would you suggest using to make drones from organic non synthesised sources? I've been playing with PaulStretch but looking for different flavours and methods.

Pretty much anything granular, both instruments and effects. Glitchmachines have some good options. Also very long delays/reverbs or ones that include buffer/freeze effects. I find the best approach can be to do it in different layers, for example feeding the results of PaulStretch into a granular synth, then run it through a reverb with diffusion.

Running shorter sounds through a granular effect or synth first, and then processing with PaulStretch can also yield interesting results.ztrauq wrote: Mon Dec 07, 2020 8:57 am Pretty much anything granular, both instruments and effects. Ditto everything already stated above. I also tend to use PaulStretch after other processes, but not exclusively so. GrainSpace rocks, on its own or in series/parallel with innumerable things, like this:

GRM Tools Evolution works but has ton of latency so not ideal to track with. For softsynths ArcSyn would be a good one probably.

Voltage Modular is also pretty great for creating endless Drones.
You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.
