Wow…completely forgot about that. Thanks, Funkybot and your evil twin, too.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 11:26 pm It already does that. It's the Panel button in the top right. It's been there for a few months now.

With that button turned on, I can use CC3 on my Roland System-8 (filter cutoff knob) to control the Filter Cutoff on the Upper Layer when that panel is active, or the Filter Cutoff on the Lower Layer when that panel is active. With that button off, two different MIDI assignments are required.

This is huge- I am creating an Electra One preset for the J-8, and this greatly simplifies the process!

Is there a reason the mod wheel can't be assigned to a parameter using MIDI Learn? It isn't working for me at all

As I play with J-8, I really miss a more elaborate modulation assignment for the mod-wheel and aftertouch. I guess the synth has to remain true to the original hardware, so I imagine a button that would open a new panel with more options. J-8 already adds features which are not present on the original, so I don't think this would be sacrilege.
I think with emulations I'd always want to see the original signal path, like we have in the J-8, but augmented via an option with extra expression features that would open the mod-wheel and aftertouch + velocity to all synth parameters.

Can this not be done via the DAW ? I'm pretty sure can do this in Bitwig anywayhimalaya wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 12:57 pm As I play with J-8, I really miss a more elaborate modulation assignment for the mod-wheel and aftertouch. ...which becomes an isssue (for me) in the heat of the moment when building a track. I load a preset and want to play it without having to fuss with my DAW by having to assing modulation to basics like mod-wheel and aftertouch.
A DAW shouldn't be requried to assing such basiscs to a patch.

At least true for those who make presets for other people, which in their majority don‘t use Bitwig.
In Bitwig you can save the preset, but you can only load it back into Bitwig and no other DAW… And it can‘t be per voice either… So yes, it does need more flexibility for sure… But at the moment it is the one MPEfied Jupiter 8 out there with some promising but not yet realized potential…
