If anyone can recommend a powered speaker or amp/speaker combo that I can connect directly to the output of my electronic drums or keyboard, it would be much appreciated. Preferably under $300.
This will primarily be for playing at home, but could take to other houses to play with others.
Right now I just use headphones, but would like actual speakers to hear the sound when I play.
Thanks
Anyone recommend a sub $300 amp/speaker or powered speaker for electronic drums &/or keyboard?

I use an Electro-Voice ZLX. Sounds great and is built like a tank. Got it at GC, recommended by the salesman. I'm sure you could find a used one under 300. Reverb has one right now for 275

There are so many variables:
How loud do you want it to be?
How hi-fi does it need to be?
What weight and dimensions can you tolerate?
Do you care about mono & stereo?
Do you want to be able to connect & play drums and keyboards at the same time?
I mean, I have a mini amp I bought for maybe $10, runs on batteries or USB power, designed for connecting a MP3 player in a boys bedroom. It emits sound, and that's it. It could be you're happy with that, but I doubt it. Hard to say without more requirements. Maybe visit a musical equipment shop (online) and look in the keyboard amp department.
Also possibly a set of active nearfield studio monitors (perhaps $200) and a dinky mixer ($60) could do the job.

A used EV, JBL, Yamaha, or Mackie powered 12-15" speaker would be my choice. I have Yamaha DBR12s and love them.
