How good is Synthmaster ONE?

There's much praise for a few wavetable synths but rarely anyone mentions Synthmaster ONE. Is there a reason for it?

I have (a license of) the big Synthmaster but I'm thinking whether I should crossgrade to Synthmaster One, too

How good/useful is it, for example compared to less expensive wavetable synths like Vaporizer 2, Sektor or Vital

There was quite a lot of development that went into Synthmaster One that was not in Synthmaster itself until just the last release of 2.9.9beta. The latest beta was had a whole lot change under the cover.

Aside from that, if you don't need the extra power of Synthmaster, Synthmaster One has a much simpler workflow, so it may be just the thing for you. Also, you can get Synthmaster One on iPhone and iPad, and the patches are compatible and cloud syncable, so that may be of use also.

I prefer it to Synthmaster2 ... as already mentioned, it sounds good.

Reason I like it so much I guess is its pretty fast to work with. The presets are nice and fresh, every control is right in front and the gui simply works.

Is Synthmaster or Synthmaster One very heavy in CPU? Can you create or edit wave tables with them yourself or import?

Also how is this copy protection with this product? Does it ask to be re activate after 30days or something like this?

It's a serial number copy protection afaik.
I definitely would not consider the CPU load heavy.
I have never tried to edit or import my own wavetables though, sorry.

Sm One always felt more stable to me, great sounds and a very easy workflow.
But Bulent is really making sure 2.9.9 is stable and has done a lot of development in it to make it more shall we say SM One like in features (even though it is its big brother/sister)

To me: it's fun, uncomplicated, nice range of presets, nice gui skins/sizes, has midi-out on the arpeggiator, uses serial-number registration, and is musical. So it's more suited to songwriting and jamming than horror movie score writing.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Syntmaster One allows use of complex wavetables from Serum etc, while Synthmaster 2.9 only gives you access to the factory 16-waves wavetables.

That's not true, the website states for Synthmaster 2.9:

- Contains many wavetables
- You can import your own wavetables by drag and drop

I might give it another go after reading this. I've been loving the wavetables in SM for a while now. Any other sound engine aspects to it the wavetables? Sometimes this interface to SM is a bit clunky, but I really do love the synth overall. Really think it's one of the very best sounding softsynths out there.
