I have a set of Elac Unifi BS U5 that sounds great, but I miss to hear some bottom in them - not necessary an overloaded boom that can be felt by the penguins in Antarktis, and not necessarily a perfect sub sound.
listen to all kinds of music; classical, jazz, pop and rock from the 60´s and 70´s and occasionally also modern stuff.
The Elac´s are placed on top of a long piece of tv furniture, and I´m hoping for that a subwoofer would work inside one of the cabinets of the tv furniture, that measure about 30x30x35 cm.
This is for two reasons: WAF and NOT wanting to bother the neighbors. I live in an attached house with pretty thick concrete walls: The neighbors can´t hear it at all when I´m playing music with closed doors. I can however hear the neighbor to the right side when they´re playing their upright piano standing next to the wall facing our living room, and the neighbors to the left can even hear that too! Anyway, I´ve asked the neighbors to the right to limit their piano playing (its mainly Adele-song chords and such they´re playing) since we had our baby two months ago. Not because of the baby, but because of us needing to take a nap sometimes during the day - because of the baby
So, that´s why my initial thought is to place it in the tv furniture´s cabinet. I´d like to know if this could work without the sub sensation disappearing and the bass sounding too awful.
If not, what´s the best recommendations for a (budget-)subwoofer that is neighborfriendly and the configuration of it? FYI, there´s a corner - still close to the "good" neighbors house, where it can be hidden behind a big chair, if the cabinet option is just not an acceptable solution....
