Sonic Instruments has released S-Board, a creative modular effect suite for macOS and Windows (Standalone/VST/AU/AAX). The virtual patching system gives you unlimited sound-shaping possibilities with an intuitive and clean graphic interface. Build your own signal chain by simply drag & drop the units onto the board, then patch in some modifier units to turn a static sound into a dazzling soundscape. S-Board can become your go-to mixing channel strip or your secret sound design weapon.

Here's an example of morphing a synth arp with S-Board, see how the modifier works with the processors to transform the sound to another dimension, and how much fun you can get on S-Board.

Though it's a lot of fun tinkering sound, S-Board is a serious mixing tool, it can get the job done. Here are some use cases:

Shaping the amplitude envelope:

Side-chain filtering & gain reduction:

Write the control voltage to DAW:

The patching system seems fun, it looks like a modular synth but actually a pure effect board. I got a free trial and am amazed by simple LFO adding on the effects can create such interesting sound.

Hey, thanks for checking out S-Board! Saw you are interested in tape emulation, have you tried modulating the Acousma module with an LFO? The Acousma module is a tape delay, an LFO into its "delay" CV input gives you lovely tape wows and flutters. Just make sure the delay time is short (below 30hz) and put it in 100% wet. :tu:
