Does anyone know of any tweaks I can make to the M-Audio Radium-61 keyboard so it is more touch sensitive :?: I haven't changed the factory presets for velocity, reverb depth, or after touch before, but I'd like them to be as sensitive as possible.
:help:

I usually have Velocity at 63 and After Touch set at 127. That way you have the potential for a wider vel. and at range even if you don't always use it.

No wonder you're not getting much sensitivity, vel and at default to zero! :(

Thank you very much, db!

:D

A BIG help.

No problem, but you do realize that that was
right in the manual? :)

You can get a copy of the manual from:

http://www.midiman.com/images/en/manual ... Manual.pdf

In the section 'Top Panel Features' Pp 16-19

According to that manual (and from my own personal experience), adjusting the velocity on the keyboard doesn't really change the curve. It just adds a constant value to each key. So with your velocity set to 64, the smallest value you'll ever record is 65. That's not to say that the feature is useless, but it would be very nice if the Radium series featured different velocity curves in addition to the offset.

I did know that the velocity factory seting was zero from reading the manual and how to program the data...what I didn't know was which combination of settings (aftertouch, reverb depth, & velocity) would produce an optimum piano-like sensitivity.

My keyboard with it's velocity set to 63 is much easier to play, but most of the notes register at maximum velocity (sounds like a bad movie or physics theory) in piano roll. When it was set to zero, some of the notes were of low velocity but the touch was impossible to control. :? Guess it will have to do until I can afford one with weighted hammer action. Thanks again. :)

What are you using for your host? If your host supports MFX, you can get something like VeloMaster, which allows you to adjust the curve. I've got a Radium 49, and I really don't like the key sensitivity, but using a custom software curve can make it bearable.

radium doesn't have aftertouch. also its velo response is awful. sorry, I own one too - thats just the way it is.

reverb depth is irrevlevant.

The Radium's Data Slider can be set to Aftertouch. But I agree the velocity response is horrible. Makes programming velocity into patches very difficult. :(

Fruity Loops is my host. Would it be able to use the Velomaster MFX plug-in? I went to the Velomaster site...Fruity Loops wasn't listed in it's compatible hosts. :?:

This program works with anything that takes a MIDI input, but you have to get a virtual MIDI cable driver, something like Maple MIDI or Midi Yoke (links on that page). It's not too hard to set up, but I prefer having fewer programs open, so I never liked using it, but it would definitely work.
