MPD218 Editor gives MIDI Device not found error when trying to Send To Hardware

Anyone have this problem? For whatever reason, the notes on my MPD218 start out of range for a lot of my software and I'd like to obviously make some custom presets in any case. The MPD218 works fine when the software IS in range but I still cannot customize it. When I go to use Send To Hardware I get the attached error.

Damn. 8 months later and still no answer. Even weirder considering the software that comes with it has the pads out of order.

Figured it out. I forgot MIDI was a one-port kinda protocol.
I was trying to do some stuff in Bome and it threw a fit. Then I remembered I had a DAW open. Then I thought wait a minute...
Sure enough, close all your other programs that use this MIDI device and you can edit them.
Sorry AKAI support! If you see this please disregard.

Ah...
Just ran into the same thing. I really wish these midi controller editors would find a way to access the unit, or to at least give a virtual midi out. That way, one could open the editor, and hear changes in realtime.
As it is, I edit, close the editor, open my audio software and check if that worked.
It's a really weird back-and-forth dance to see if changes made sound right.

just tried the mpd218 editor here (I used it to set the unit it up when I got back when I was running win7, and whilst I reinstalled it when I went to win10 end of 2019 I haven't needed to edit the setup so have never actually launched), thankfully no problems sending to the unit hereSuperFly76 wrote: Thu Sep 02, 2021 1:47 am Ah...

How have you got the mpd218 connected - direct to a USB port or to a hub?

Thanks for this stuff here I realize when you put in a USB hub it doesn't recognize it but in the port it does.
