Cubase SX Generic Remote Latency at high CPU loads?

I'm currently using a Behringer BCR2000 control surface - to control my soft-synths via cubases generic remote feature (I have written generic remote banks for my various softsynths). However I noticed today an effect which is less than desirable - when cubase is using a lot of processing power my control of softsynth parameters starts to lag. I think this must be a problem with the implementation of Cubase's generic remote.
Has anybody else come accross this problem and found any solution. Is it meant to do this or do I have something set-up wrong.

well, it seems to me that playback/recording etc. all slows down when my CPU hits 80% or so, so why shouldn't it affect the control of the softsynths parameters. Seems like you need a faster CPU. 
I have been considering getting a BCR2000 to use with Cubase SE. Can you control e.g. Cubase's mixer using generic remote ?
how well does it integrate with the softsynths? can you e.g control all parameters in Z3ta, Reaktor etc.?

I don't know if there's a setting inside sx for the latency but there's one on the bcr (global edit encoders 7&8 ), but it will anyway reduce the flow to 16 simultaneous controls minus (-) the midi input workflow inside sx (for a clear comparison, the Logic Control inside Logic itself is limited to 8 simultaneous controls, whatever the bcf or a real logic control unit, so 16 controls is quite alot already).
Armadillo concerning the bcr I'd say go for a bcf2000 first or for a bundle at a special price (I saw someone bought both for 390 euros but can't find the place), because the motorised BCF and its mackie/babyHUI/Logic Control emus are fabulous and the standard bcf with its 8x4 encoders with push are already all you need to control any vsti crucial parameter at the same time. But if you use a control surface already the BCR is a serious extension too
