Roland Cloud

Hi;

Trying to help my bandmate (who is on Windows 10) to troubleshoot Roland Cloud. The cloud app is telling him the instruments are installed, but not showing up on the DAW!

Generally, what is the installation path for Roland Cloud instruments on windows? I'm a mac guy, so not very well educated on the plugin path for windows. My suspicion is that the DAW needs to point to possibly a specific path that isn't currently defined in the DAW. Thanks for any help.

What Daw does he use?
If the Daw only supports vst 2 which it sounds like it does you have to point the Daw to C:\Program Files\Vstplugins which is where they end up after a install.

The Zenology and Zenology Pro and the TR 606 is Vst 3 only.

He is on Reason V. 11. On windows, VST3 is supported. Is the usual place ALL plugins get installed on a windows machine?

Reason 11 only supports vst 2 so that is why they don't show up without adding the vst 2 folder i was refering to since it doesn't support vst 3.

The Reason rack plugin you can use in other daws is vst 3.
No the folder i pointed you too is not the only place where vst 2 plugins get installed it is only where the Roland cloud puts the vst 2 versions.

Some plugins go to Steinberg folder too if you don't specify where to install them during installation.

It's weird with the Reason 11 DAW. On the windows platform, VST3 plugins are supported. (the mac version still doesn't support VST3 or AU plugins). He is able to see some of the Roland Cloud plugins like Juno and Jupiter. But Zenology is the weird one that he hasn't been able to get to show up in Reason.

It is because Zenology and the TR 606 is in Vst 3 format only and Reason 11 doesn't support it on windows either (Only vst 2).
Where have you seen that Reason 11 supports vst 3 on windows?

hmm, that is interesting. I thought the other cloud plugins were mostly VST3 as well (like the Juno, Jupiter, etc..). I know on the mac, they NEVER show up and they are VST3/AU only. And I've had other windows users tout the fact that Reason on windows does support VST3.

Well that is not true Reason only supports vst 2 it is only the Reason Rack plugin that is vst 3 format that you use in other Daws.

All the Roland cloud plugins are in Vst 2 and vst 3 format except for Zenology, Zenology Pro and the Drumatic tr 606 plugin On the windows platform.

ah, ok. Good to know. That solves the problem then!! Thanks for the heads up on that.

You can get a VST2 plug-in that hosts VST3 plugins and use that as a workaround for the VST3 only plugins. Example: Blue Cat's Patchwork should do the trick.

A little off topic, but might help the next guy. On windows I found the cloud manager and where it downloads to. I just had a 1 gig download fail the install and was forced to download all over again to try and remedy the issue, this time I'll nab the installer so I can take a different approach. :
C:\Users\XXyourusernameXX\AppData\Roaming\Roland Cloud\Cloud Manager\tmp

Addendum: Once the dowload completed the install exe was moved to
'C:\Users\XXyourusernameXX\AppData\Roaming\Roland Cloud\Cloud Manager\ACB'

Additionally it asked for an administrator password.. this was tied to the password and username I used to log into the machine.. but you have to leave it on 'admin' and fill in that info, don't switch to the 'Current User account' or you will bugger the install (like I did the first time) - because then it deletes the install exe and you have to download again (unless you found this post in which case you were clever and made a copy of the install first :) ) - cheers

P.S. Please move this to where it should be.. this post is where my search led me, so I figure the next guy with the same issue might also end up here.. and see this.
