:help:
Hi:
Im a newbie at this, just bought Fruity Loops Studio 4.2.5 Producer Edition.

Now need to buy a Keyboard Midi Controller. What should I look for? Any recomendations? I have a budget between $150 to $200.

Any website for newbies?
I think I just added a new addiction to my life....

PLEASEEEE HEEELLLPPPP!!!!

i have the midiman oxygen8, has two octaves, pitchwheel and mod wheel, 8 assignable knobs. i'm happy with it, paid $135, i think, at guitar center.
i'd rather have a mullet than a comb-over.
fortunately, i have neither.

Seriously? Hit the used music stores and pawn shops. Check out the feel of the boards. No knock to Uncadave, but I found the feel of the Oxygen8 to be very cheap. I also come from using the high end workstations, so keep that in mind. Look carefully, and you can probably find a pretty decent board with more keys, more features, and a better feel. Michael just picked up a Nord Lead for $400 for example. Just make sure whatever you look at has it actually has MIDI in and out though. ;) Your price range is very confining for the new keyboard market though.

IMO the Edirol PCR series keyboards have a nice feeling action, if that's important to you. They've also got a reasonable number of controllers, and aren't too expensive.

I have one problem. Where I live theres no used instrument stores. And Midi Keyboard Controllers are very VERY rare to be found. If I buy, it will be by internet. Thats why Im asking for a recomendation from you experienced users.

ahhh also I need a website store with good prices, if you dont mind the asking.

Ah, that makes it harder then. ;) You'd still be able to buy used by internet though. I have bought and sold audio equipment that way for years.

Still, it's just an opinion. I know plenty who love the feel of a board that I hate and vice versa. Who's right?

In general, you get what you pay for. If you go cheap cheap, expect cheap.

Im just a newbie. I dont want to spend lots of money. Maybe when I get the hang on this, then I will spend more.

I already have a Yamaha PSR-225GM Midi keyboard, but it doesnt have Pitch & Modulation controls .

The Edirol PCR30 32 note seems a nice option

Yeah, just go buy you another cheap Yamaha or Casio, but this time with the mod, and pitch wheel, (I'd get at least 61 keys while you're at it). Order from Kmart or somethin', or better yet- get it off of e-bay, or the Pawn shop, Thrifties. No need to get fancy, if you're pretty happy with what you have already and don't want to get something all fancy, then keep it simple.

Between these two:

The Edirol PCR30 32 Key $169.95

or

MAudio Radium 49-Key $149.00

Which one will you choose??

Post

Do you want something you can use to just tap keys and tweak knobs mostly, or do you want a full keyboard?

They both look good to me. I lean towards the Edirol, but I'd want the extra keys, so would probably end up getting the Radium.

That's what I picked over the Oxygen8.

Love my PCR30 for in front of the PC: helps me avoid rolling my chair between the monitor and my bigger keyboard. Cool for fooling around and patch editing, with all the knobs and sliders.

A full keyboard Midi controller with Pitch bend and modulation wheels cost a lot more than $150...

Just want to make some music using Fruity Loops Producer. The more keys the better...

I have Slayer 2 and I need the Pitch Bend wheel if I want to use the Pitch Bend and Glissando options.
