Checking Out : 1178 by Pulsar Audio [New Plugin]

Hi everyone,
If you've mixed in the box with analog emulations of hardware units, you must have come accross, at some point, the emulation of an 1176 compressor or other FET compressor. While there isn't much to be added to the 1176 emulations already available out there, more could maybe be said about its close relative and much less emulated 1178.

Good you mentioned that, I actually got the email too haha! What do you think about it? Have you had the chance to compare it with other comps that you have? I really love their comps... I use the Mu all the time haha!

Tbh I didn't compare it, I just used it last night on a whole heap of projects on the master buss and loved what it did on each of them..
I do love their Mu too, but MagicDeathEye replaced most of what I use to use the Mu for.

Talking about UAD, I use the Plugin Alliance Shadowhills Mastering Comp quite a lot, and I believe it was first developped with UAD. Love the sound of it!zvenx wrote: Tue Feb 16, 2021 8:12 pm Definitely and i am a UAD is God for Dynamics fan, but yeah the 1178 really does some great stuff on busses.

I'm gonna try out the 1178 on some synths. I really like the saturation options, that should work wonders with an SEM emulation haha

I think it was first developed FOR UAD not with UAD.
I have the Comp A or whatever the last one was... Bought it last year in one of their sales, haven't used it since alas
.. (like a lot of the PA stuff that I end up buying)
Yeah I was using the saturation options on the Tal J-8 last night. Great pair.

Yes, I said 'with' because one of the developers is Dirk Ulrich, the head of PA. I do use a lot of their stuff, I really love what they do. Have you ever tried out their channel strips? I use them all the time haha. But there are plenty of great other plugins other for sure, there's something for everyone
I've not tried out the Tal J-8 either... It's like the Cherry Audio synths that I need to try out... there's so much great stuff

I have all but the last two and never use them.
They have issues with Cubase at low latencies.
But afaik no UAD person was involved in the coding of the UAD version (of course they may have offered suggestions etc). That is it was entirely coded by PA for the UAD platform.

I mainly produce in Cubase but I mix in Harrison Mixbus... Have you updated Cubase to the latest version? I'm still on 8 here haha
https://www.uaudio.fr/blog/brainworx-sh ... velopment/ Yup, looks like it's the work of Dirk Ulrich and Peter Reardon mainly.

You're right regarding the logo actually! I'll ask them... But not sure... Pulsar Modular seems to be based in Turkey whereas Pulsar Audio is a French company.
