Reducing latency with Alesis v49 MIDI sequencer and Windows 10

Hi,

I searched this forum and didn't find similar topics.

I'm running

1) Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire 5, which is a bit of a budget laptop but handles video nicely
2) an Alesis v49 MIDI sequencer via Tracktion Waveform

Latency, just when playing (not even recording), is terrible no matter which DAW I use. I've tried both Tracktion and Ableton.

The best performance I get is out of Recursive Arts Virtual Piano and even there, latency is present.

I've tried ASIO4All to no avail. Same with the Windows low-latency audio option.

I reallllllly hope I don't have to have some kind of high-end laptop to be able to play music properly with the Alesis.

Thanks.

Do you have an ASIO audio interface?

Post

Without a decent audio interface with dedicated drivers there is nothing you can do to reduce latency.

In my original post I mentioned that I had already tried the ASIOForAll driver with poor results.

Are you talking about a hardware interface?

Yes. Do you have one? If not, that's your problem right there.
