https://www.jrrshop.com/sonible-smart-eq-live is on sale at the moment and about as cheap as I have seen it. I am interested but wonder how good it is and if it can be used in a similar vein to Gullfoss and Soothe? Anyone have reasonable experience using it (and anything similar)? Loks to me like it would replace their smart EQ2 as a static eq in most situations plus it has the continuous adaptive thing going which is quite attractive to me.

I don't really know, but looking at the chart on their web page, comparing their different plugins, it looks like the main difference between EQ Live and EQ2 is that the former works in zero latency mode. So if you're not mixing in a live environment, I'd say EQ2 is enough.

It's adaptive so if the material on the track is changing then eq live adjusts its curve. I think that a ppliesnto a lot of material, hence the appeal of plugins like Gullfoss. But it can be static as well

OK, EQ 2 is static only. Have you tried Tokyo Dawn Labs NOVA EQ? It is dynamic and has tonal balance matching to reference track or pink noise profile. No AI though, so maybe less adaptive than EQ Live?

thanks, yeah NOVA is less adaptive, but a good EQ. I use Toneboosters EQ4 for that instead although I like Nova as well, cant remember why I got EQ4 as against Nova. As I demo EQLive it seems a great EQ for getting and keeping a well balanced sound and that one might also use another EQ in series with it for more extreme or creative uses.
