What kind of effect, instrument, application or sound library would you personally like to see being born out of the KVR DC21? Please keep in mind that the developers have less than 3 months to finish something usable...

A 120 measure sequenser.
Workspace 10 measures.
Map over all 120 measures pointing out which measure you're working on. Markers in the map for selection of what to play.

Added april 2.
Maybe randomize the 10 measure in workspace. Probably need rules in form of notes from sequence before and after the seq you work on. Start random seq with the same note that ended the earlier seq or the third note up or down counted with existing note as 1. The same with ending the random seq to match next seq's note or the third note over or under.

My thoughts on possible new plugins:

There are myriads of plugins in the world. Thousands of
equalizers and compressors ... so if someone wants to
attract the attention of musicians, producers and the kvr-
community he should create something very special:

A plugin which just doesn't exist today!

In any case, the developer challenge is an opportunity to
make new suggestions. And it gives developers the opportunity
to try out new plugins.

===========================================

Concretely I would suggest:

1. Multiband exciter

2. Multiband transient shaper

3. Dynamic EQ

4. Semantic EQ

5. Super-stereo-widener

===========================================

Details

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Multiband exciter
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

For a decent processing of single sounds and for a good
mastering a multiband-exciter can make the difference!
The field of multiband-exciters is still an interesting and
rewarding area for VST-developers.

A multiband-exciter which enables fine tuning of a
chosen frequency band, so that small deficiencies of a
sound or of a mix can be corrected easily, is very very
appealing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Multiband transient shaper
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

In order to adapt and model a sound very precisely, it is
good if you can adapt the transients differently for many
frequency ranges.

Of course, the high frequencies are the typical domain for
transients. Almost all "transient designers" take care of these
frequencies. It is all the more interesting to design the upper
and lower mids. With it you can give a sound - drums, synth
stabs or guitars - much better punch.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Dynamic EQ
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The dynamic EQ makes it possible to control a specific
frequency range. It's kind of a selective compressor.
There are really only a few dynamic EQs and very few free
dynamic EQs. In this respect, a nice dynamic EQ might be a
great contribution.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Semantic EQ
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Haha, what should a "semantic EQ" be?

This is simply an EQ, the controls of which are not underlaid
with frequency information. Instead, they are referred to with
descriptive adjectives such as bass, deep warmth, high warmth,
fullness, nasality, presence, shine. Since such an EQ is aimed
more at beginners, the GUI should also be a bit colorful and
simple.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Super-stereo-widener
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Stereo expansion is a tricky thing: There is (1) the method of
doubling with delay and modulation. This method quickly makes
rhythmic signals muddy and diffuse.

And then there is (2) the frequency distribution method: certain
frequencies are shifted to the left and others to the right.

How about combining these two methods in a clever way that -
with a single button - you have an optimal stereo widener?

How about a MidiPlayer Vst that can play chords and basses in a style like normal musicians would.
Or a good noise reduction tool, that's finally useful and doesn't cut off tone.
Or an ambisonic-room-reverb that lets you put instrument in 3D Spaces with a 3d UI.
I probably get even more Ideas on the go, like an instant random chordideagiver....

Yes, i agree, if a developer wants to get my attention she should make something fairly unique. Only problem i see is that to do something unique might take a good deal of time, maybe more than a lot of talented developers have ?
I'm fairly certain that all of those suggestions have been done. Izotope and ddmf spring to mind but there are more than just those.

I’m still waiting for a plugin that adds talent...

But that's always the problem: Every good plugin needs its time - and at the
end of the time period it gets very tight: There is never enough time! :?
So the DC is very demanding.

Sure, all kinds of plugins already exist, and so many ideas have been realized.
Therefore it is very difficult - if not impossible - to create something completely
"new".

But you can focus on plugins, of which there are only a few, and whose handling
is difficult. Hence my list of suggestions above.

But sometimes it is also interesting to create an effect that already exists a
thousand times, but with a completely different GUI and a new operating
concept, one-button operation, graphic representations, etc. There are no
limits to the imagination. :hyper:

An arpeggiator in which you can assign each key an lfo of its own, or a chain of lfo’s to control CC
This possibly makes no sense, except in my head ;)

I have only a small wish, a VST plugin (both instrument and effect) that can load 4 other VST plugins and morph with an X/Y pad. Some samplers have this feature, and I love the XY Instrument/Effect in Bitwig. I can't really get why this simple tool hasn't really been developed yet.

multiband... anything

This was the 2012 winner, Thrillseeker XTC. It is limited to Windows/x86 though, so I guess there is some demand for an update.
2. Multiband transient shaper
These I find odd because crossovers mess with transients. If you're going to do smeary things to transients I'd be more interested to see some new plugins based on allpass filters. Maybe a plugin that looks like an EQ but sets a curve for group delay?
3. Dynamic EQ
Second place in 2014, and developed into TDR Nova which is pretty much the best free plugin there is. What more do you want?

Post

Is there a good free multiband compressor?

There is definitely a demand for a Variety Of Sound Thrillseeker VBL remake: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=563967

Matrix sequencers are widely accepted in Eurorack world but I can hardly find anything similar among the VST plugins.

I find Reaxcomp in Reaper or the Reaplugs pack works fine, nice and transparent like Reacomp itself.

If anyone was still pondering what to develop... maybe a seq/arp with two or three control lanes that aren't knobs but a freely drawable curve (not editable beziers either, too much dragging :)) Maybe something like Audio Damages old BigSeq2 but with MIDI out.
