Hi,
does anybody know a place where I can get ethnic samples for free? I'm searching for North African / Arab clarinettes and flutes - e.g. the Ghaita and the likes. I tried to emulate it by eq-ing a clarinette, but this did not lead to the special arab harsh clarinette-sound.

Yes I have; but I only want to experiment a bit and try things out before I start spending money on sample-CDs.

Have you found the samples you want avaliable for purchase? How about soundfonts? How about the Sonic Reality forum?
