LALA update is ready to go with new features, improved DSP, alternative skins and more!

Features

- PEAK REDUCTION: Simply, it's threshold setting. Will set you compression level.

- GAIN: Make up gain

- LIMIT: When you engage, it will work as limiter. Otherwise, it will react as compressor.

- EXT: External side chain option. You will still be to use sidechain filter with external sidechain.

- HPF: Will cut low end.

- MF / MG: - Will set sensitivity of compressor for mid frequencies.

- HF - Will set sensitivity of compressor for high frequencies (Enhanced version of original unit's R37 setting)

- ANALOG OBSESSION LOGO: Oversampling. It will turn to red when oversampling is engaged. Also, show you a notification.

- POWER: Bypass button

Awesome :)
What oversampling do in 96kHz project? OS to 192kHz?

Tunca, this doesn't seem to do the thing where cranking the gain an LA-2A (and then padding it on the back-end) distorts the living begeezus out of the signal. LA-2A's make for great vocal fuzz boxes using this approach. I tried that trick with LALA and it stayed clean throughout. I've got a Stam hardware clone, and a few of the really good LA-2A software emulations (UAD, TrackComp) will do this.

Is LALA meant to be an accurate LA2A emulation or inspired by the LA2A? I always assumed Tunca's work was inspirationally driven and hence not necessarily an accurate hardware emu.

You're right about original vs inspiration.

In digital world, we can change everything about hardware. Mostly, I'm doing this.

While you boost input signal with LA2A and get extra saturation, I did opposite to make it cleaner. Input level is same but compression spot goes down like threshold.

Also, same with Rare (Pultec emulation). While it has post gain stage, I added extra pre gain stage option to get different colors.

Oversampling is added for sidechain circuit and compression section. You can get cleaner compression. No matter 44.1kHz or 96kHz.

Thanks!

Yes yes. My question was if it's 4xOS for every SR. Or it's eg.4x for 44.1k projects, 2x for 96k projects etc.

Thanks anyway :)

Does “Improved DSP” mean that it won’t sound like the older version, that it is not session compatible? What happens if I open a project with the old LALA version in it?
Or does the new version have a new plugin ID?

I'm not sure if it works for all DAWs, but you could try renaming the new LALA file so the DAW considers it a different plugin, something like "LALA v2", and you leave the original LALA alone for the sake of your existent projects.

No that doesn’t work. The VST plugin ID is the relevant factor. Usually, when a plugin changes significantly, i.e. cannot recall properly, the developer assigns a new ID to the plugin.

No big changes audiowise. Just cleaned and improved codes. Also, faster processing and lower cpu.

Only release time little optimized. Others are same.

Thanks.

that's the downside of working with Analog Obsession plugins - there is no coherent sonic vision behind the plugins, so while they're free and great for what they are, they can, and will, get updates that change their sound. this is why i don't use any of them in any sessions that i need to keep long term.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Many Thanks!

One question: why has the size doubled? With slight corrections I would
have thought that the size would only change by a few bytes ... :)

Anyway, this seems like a great LA2A-style compressor. Thanks alot!

nice update. thanks! seems updates are never backwards compatible, which is very annoying. you should start to keep plugin ID‘s. every developer usually does that. cheers

Sadly crashes reaper v5.1
Will continue with older version
Hopefully future releases will be ok
Looks good though, many thanks AO :tu:
