What do you guys think of this setup?
(i am new to the 64bit side)

2. Corsair Value S PC3200 DDR-DIMM 512MB Unbuffered, Non-parity, 64Megx64, CL2.5

Motherboard:
1. EPoX EP-8KDA3J Hovedkort for Socket 754 nForce3 250GB,SATA,GbLAN,ATX,Lyd

Harddrives:
1. Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200GB S-ATA 8MB cache 7200RPM
1. Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 160GB S-ATA 8MB cache 7200RPM

Cpu:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ 2.4 GHz Socket 754, 512 KB cache, BOXED

Soundcard:
TerraTec Producer Phase 22, 24Bit/96kHz PCI, Retail

Does anyone have any similar setup and would recommend it?

I know via & Nforce 2 motherboards. But i think that the nforce 3 is alot better

I am also not sure if i should buy Athlon64 3400+ Or Athlon64 3700+ the 3700+ has the same specs as the 3400+ the only difference is that the 3700+ has 1mb cache instead of 512kb cache.

So what do you want to do with your new DAW?

If the answer is "music", then i wouldn't worry about 1mb or 512kb cache...

I'm not quite into 64bit, but to my comprehension of computers it appears quite sensible.

My only input would be to consider slightly better RAM, though you prolly wouldnt notice more than a 5% difference between the value ram and a faster higher end model.

Don't go for a socket 754 motherboard or processor they are being replaced by socket 939. To retain some form or future upgradeability go for socket 939.

I would go for the 3400+, the 3700+ isn't worth the price difference, imo

Then it will be 3400+ i did think that it would be the best bet for the money

Is 754 going to be replaced?
If so thanks for the tip then i will go for a 3500+ 939 socket instead.
It cost 100$ more but it´s worth it.

Does anybody have any experience with the soundcard i mentioned?
Will it be good enough for Reason 2.5 & FL Studio?

Personally, I'd stick with an Asus motherboard. Every time I look at 'cheap' motherboards, I see Epox, and never see any 'hardcore' people using them either.

Yes, if you can afford it, and you're not going to be overclocking, get a 3500+ with a socket 939 motherboard, it's future proof compared to socket 754
