Very cool. Thanks much!

Many thanks Polac for this wrapper. :tu:

Now I can see my vst3 instruments in Komplete Kontrol. They are all selectable under a vst3 vendor name in place of their original vendor name (eg Korg).
However it's not easy to find an instrument among others when plenty of vsti3 are installed. Is there a way to improve this ?

Post

How do you use this wrapper? I loaded into VST2.4 directory, but not really sure what's meant to happen next?

thank you for this :)

How can I scan only the plug-ins I need and not all of them? For example, Waves, which I have 200 or 300 of, and which are also in VST2. Otherwise, it's a very long scan.

For me as well in Reason 12, no luck
sorry. i couldn't get this to work. Propellerhead Reason 12 has no VST2 folder, but in Sweetwater discussion, it says that Reason will look for VST plugins in several places.
The simplest for me was C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2.
So i created that folder and put all the files in there. Maybe that is a mistake.
it did generate a VST64Shell in Reason 12, but from there, I don't see how to link the Native Instruments Kontakt 7 to this.
When i drag the VST64SHELL into the Reason Rack< i click on the black blank area, and nothing happens.
I know from my other plugins for Halion & Kontakt 6 Player, there pops up the interface, but with this, zilch!

I wish i could move forward with this.
Hope you are able to help

Also, have you checked Kontakt is in your VST3 plugin folder. That should be

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

Use the older version with the shell2vst.exe file, that will generate individual dll files that you can sift through and choose the plugins you want to put in your VST folder.

There's a gif inside the zip file that explains the process. You literally drag the vsti3shellx64 dll file into the shell2vst64 exe file, it will then generate a folder with compatible dlls for all your VST3 plugins.

Thank you, I have already found this way, very convenient.

I put it up for reference in case anyone gets the same issue as you had.

Hello,
I can't see any exe in https://www.xlutop.com/buzz/zip/vst3shell.zip
My VST2 host does not support shell plugins, so I need to explode them

There is no .exe in that, because its doing exactly what it says in the name; it makes all your VST3 plugins available via a single (VST2) 'shell' plugin.

If you want a shell plugin turned into a set of individual plugins, then you need to use the .exe that's part of Shell2VST, also from xlutop.

Thanks, I can see now the VSTi dll extracted and they are 5ko
Unfortunately, they all crash the vst2 host
I have tried for example numa player vst 3
https://www.studiologic-music.com/products/numaplayer/
and for example savihost
https://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm

Im afraid I dont use either of those hosts, but vst3shell works fine for me in creating a shell-file for around 30 VST3-only plugins, and shell2vst works for me in multiple hosts (primarily Live and Bidule) for converting those, and Waves plugins, into working VST2 plugins.

You'd need to provide more info on the plugins, OS, host version etc etc.

I tested the latest version of savi host vst2
https://www.hermannseib.com/programs/savihostx64.zip
This is a nice single exe vst host, when you just rename the exe to the dll name, and it's working

I also tried bidule vst host

The VST2 shell plugin is working
The VST2 individual plugins are unfortunately not loading/recognized at all
