I play some 1st person shooter games. A few that have really loud sounds and some annoying sounds while at the same time footsteps that are super important in game. What I am trying to do is decrease certain sounds while increasing others. Is there a plugin/VST that anyone would recommend and be able to explain what I am required to do. I have tried sound compression for years and it helps some but I would like to optimize if possible.

Thanks in advance.

A compressor could help it would simply make soft sounds louder and loud sounds softer. If the game would have an internal mixer it would be easier of course…

I am not sure about an internal Mixer. Would guess no.

You could send a feature request to the developer…

Get Equalizer APO. It affects sounds at a system level (so everything including games). With it you can load vst. Choose an EQ or compressor that have low CPU requirements and no/low latency and you should be good. It's a little difficult to set the 1st time but when you get it you can create some pretty nice configs, like only affecting certain speakers in a surround setup.

If there is alot of ambience like wind and stuff it might be hard because your ears would get tired quickly from the noise. I don't think a compressor would work well for PUBG for example, but i might be wrong.
