I bought my current laptop 6 years ago. An Asus G752VW with an i76700HQ running Windows 10. I updated the hard drives to SSD and the RAM to 32GB. It's been a surprisingly good machine running all of my client projects, albeit very often right at it's maximum CPU capability.
I'm thinking of upgrading to a laptop such as this one from PCAudioLabs :

The various benchmarks say "+151 %" or "+171%" in "this or that" category, not audio performance of course. So, anyone know what would be the real world audio capability increase ? 30% more VSTi's & plugins ? 50% more ?

Is it better to get out of the "Update my PC/Laptop cycle and go the "PC-Master-Slave" route using a simple "Slave as MIDI module" set-up ?...I have never done that and am not sure how cumbersome this could be.

If you use VEP then you can build a very nice desktop to use for demanding projects and still use your laptop for smaller stuff or when you're on the go. VEP is crazy stable and nice for playing back vsts and sample libraries. It even makes for a better workflow (in my experience) if you run it outside your host on a single system rig.
