eRoms update?

I know you all are very excited by the soon-to-be-release of SS2. Synths just aren't my cup of tea so I may have to make do with the Acoustic and electric guitar capsules till Studiophonik makes its way into the world. Must have some more toys

I thought I remembered somewhere that the eROms and SS1 sounds were going to be updated with fixes so that the rogue sounds played nicely with ST2. Did I make that up or is it so? And, if so, is there an anticipated release date?

I am first working on seeing if there is a reasonable way to have a downloadable update. But there are some technical things I have to get around with regard to the files all referencing each other properly (to do a smaller download I'd like to avoid the STW files... but this may not be possible in which case I will have to send out a CD). So, we're planning on making a special CD with fixes and bonus extra sounds for people who don't have all of the libraries. If we find the downloadable solution we may do that instead but this doesn't mean there won't be some kind of freebie on the way at a later date anyway... cuz we're nice.

We WILL however have free updates to new ST2 patches for old eROMS for esoundz members and ST2 XL users. That will be downloadable maybe by the end of this week.

There are a couple of options on updating the old for the new. One is to get any replacement sounds that ended up being problematic in ST2 because of the way it was programmed in ST1. Those are all solved and the fix disc has been sent out to all group buy SS1 users (snail mail I'm afraid so it could take some weeks to arrive) and also all SS1 esoundz customers who also bought any ST2 LE, L or XL product. Anyone else can get this disc too either for purchase (because it has a lot of sounds) or if you can show proof of Sonic Synth 1 ownership then you can get it for free (just pay for the shipping... which can be avoided entirely if you just ask us to throw it into the package along with another order on esoundz which is preferred of course and would get to you much faster anyway).

For individual eROMS like the 1 or 2 sounds on Piano Collection, Guitar Collection or Bass Collection we can offer those as free downloads for anyone who bought any of those three eROMS. The other eROMS didn't have any issues.

Furthermore, you can upgrade the sounds only of the eROMS to the full new Expansion Tank version for something like $15. but that doesn't include the ST2 LE. This cannot be sold on its own so you'd have to pick up ANY Expansion Tank or Sonik Capsule to get one and then pay the $15. to get the Expansion Tank title (as long as you purchased the version 1 eROM from esoundz or we have any other way to verify). This is something only done through SR or esoundz as there is no way to administer it otherwise.

However, let's say you don't want to pay nothin'! But, you'd like to have some of the new ST2 format presets we did anyway. No problem. We're making the "child" presets available as a free download for esoundz members this week. Also, in not too long they will be available in the SampleTank 2 users area (of course they won't work unless you have the samples from the eROM as they are just "patches" that reference the samples).

Oh... one thing I think you could do is ask for the disc update for free if you are also picking up any other products on esoundz at the same time. That's not out of the question either. Then shipping is included with whatever else you order as well. (free if whatever else you ordered was $199 or up)

Sounds cool. Maybe I'm studpid, but would I gain by paying 15 usd for the expansion tanks sounds (together with my ss2 order) compared to downloading the child presets?

I don't mind paying for the extra st2 programming, I just want to know.

Maybe a few extra sounds that don't work via the download (some more advanced enhancements at the sample level... although this is minor except for with OmniSynth and Acoustic Drums and Symphony Strings which makes good use of stretch now). Plus, you'd have the disc.
