Some guys will laugh about my question but its still a vague thing for me. I would want ask what is the difference between vst and other things like that, lets take 2 exemples : serum and sylenth1, thoses vsts look not so similar but I feel they give the same sound and have the same effects, parameters, etc... why there is so much vst to give the """same""" thing ? And for the physic synthetizer its the same question, what is the difference between a synth X and a synth Y ? My english is not perfect so you will certainely not understand all but I can reformulate if you guys can't understand

Here's an opinion from a sound designers point, I also use a lot of synths. The main differences are the sound sources, the modulation system, the filters, and the effects. When making sounds all these things lead you down a path towards a finished sound. As each synth if different, you go down different paths and achieve many different sounds.

At their most basic settings, all these synths would sound similar, but once you start adding filters and effects then you start getting a different sound from each other.

For example, the sounds I have made for Massive X are very unique to Massive X and different from Dune 3. :tu:
