Live 4.0 window madness...

I've been trying to develop a workflow in Live, and I've noticed some window weirdness that seems odd or at least confusing... When selecting notes in a midi clip in the Session view... I have to click on the BG grid first, to select notes and move them up or down with the arrow key... Where if I select the loop boundry (which selects all notes) at the top of the clip, the arrow key moves the boundry NOT the notes! Which, to me defeats the purpose of being able to use the arrow keys for that... (I'm much more likely to move the notes than the loop boundry?) Hmmm... Another thing, is that the clip, (if longer than say 2-3 bars), is (so small) it's really tough to grab notes and move... And since as I referred to already, I can't just select the loop bar, and move them with the arrow key, it's downright difficult to import midi files and make changes! Like say drum midi files that don't correspond to the right drum notes... Also the focus of windows seems to be either impossible to control, or follows no logical pattern... For instance... If you use option up and down arrow, it switches from clips to browser to scenes... cool! BUT, if you try and navigate to the clip window at the bottom of the screen, can't do that... So it would seem you could navigate to the clip, highlight it, and hit enter... which would activate the clip at the bottom of the screen (and focus)... I think you have to actually select things on the screen too much! Navigation from the kybd. is severely lacking... And I know you can use kybd. assignments for a lot of things, (which I have...) but there should be some basic navigation controls for viewing and focusing in the various windows... It would be pretty tough to map out all the items in all the screens, and try and remember it! Grabbing the bar and moving the window around seems pretty clunky... I created a template for my PCR-30 that controls a lot of stuff, but there is still no way to highlight the most used items without the mouse...

WOW! :o

I'll try to get on in a bit and see if I can work through some of those questions and see what I come up with.

One reason I posted this was ...after downloading some new midi files from Keyfax, which provided some cool sample files included in Live 4.0, I realized that the midi files did not correspond to the Impulse note numbers! (Obviously Ableton manipulated the files before including them...) No problem, I thought I'll just move them... Hmmm... select, arrow key up, uh? wait a minute... Not too easy? and practically impossible to select notes due to size of clips! I though it would be easy to just select the Loop Bar and use the arrow key, or focus on the clip window, and use "select all"... uh, not so! Very strange focus problems AFAIK... No kybd. command to move cursor or position is really a glaring omission... Cool features... Bad integration between the "Live aspect" and the "Sequencer aspect"... If you're going to have 2 ways to approach using the program, they need to be implemented as complete approaches... I'd like to use session view, myself... tab key should move between, the browser, the clip window and the clip view (midi info)... If you want to use Arrange, you just use it INSTEAD...
