I just wonder if they can compete to other commercial packs. For sure they are better integrated but completely bound to Live. I am just interested in their musical usefulness compared to others in the same price range…
I am talking about
Orchestral Mallets
Orchestral Strings
Orchestral Woodwinds
Orchestral Brass
How do Abletons orchestral packs compare to other Kontakt or Halion orchestras?

They are limited, if one gets into dedicated orchestral music:
- Every time you want a different articulation, you have to add another instrument rack for it. There aren't that many articulations.
- No control over mic position and number of mics.
- No round robins (multiple samples for one note, for more realistic variety in how the note sounds each time it is played).
There were a couple of Spitfire Audio packs added with Live 11, but they are also limited--like articulations that lack velocity sensitivity. At least one can select articulations in the instrument rack with the new rack feature that was introduced.
As for the sound of the instruments, that would be a subjective measure. I bet there are videos of people composing with these instruments--maybe you can decide how good and authentic it sounds.

Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.
