- By making sure you have an m.2 installed you can upgrade one; otherwise the connection might not be on the mobo; likely so sadly.
- By ensuring that your laptop has an m.2 and a sata hdd then you are certain that there will be space and connections allocated for another sata ssd drive.
- Sata ssd drives use about half the amount of power as a mechanical. One in the slot and one in the drive caddy means the power rating and battery life will still be accurate regardless of activity.
- All webcams are bad; don't make having a 1080p webcam the final selling point because 99 times out of 100 all brands have terrible ones. They're hard to find and you need to learn what model, size, connections, brands and so on will work. It takes a long time but can pay off. If all other features are great, count your lucky stars and work on it.
- Many laptops now only have an ssd, don't be fooled thinking they also have a mechanical ssd as well as m.2. Many laptops only have an m.2 and they also only have 256 gb's. With there being no cd dvd furthermore there's no room for another drive, sol sol sol.
- SD cards are seen less and less in laptops; but they can be bought in 2 tb sizes. They are the one and only component which can be shared amongst all of your devices, whether camera, computer, phone, tablet or laptop. Why rely heavily on usb.
With this in mind, read about the rating of the sd card reader and what that means. Pavilion hp's for instance are faster than hp generics.
- Consider that a usb c can have both charge support and connection to the power supply, meaning that the laptop can be powered without a buly transformer. You can just plugin a usb c into a converter to charge and use your pc. Practical and attractive as well as fast. Need one maybe?
- Rely on modular less, have everything you need inside of your laptop; relying on usb less means that you have choices and can excercise choice. Otherwise you are using up space and cannot sit in a train, on a bus or plane and look cool and have a workplace setting right at your fingertips. Let life be simple and not modular. Where will the external go afterall?
- Consider also if you use usb sticks, they have shorter sticks now, tiny ones even in 1 tb sizes. This means that you can leave the usb attached, right inside the carrying case you put it in. Can you otherwise? Where did you put it? Could you lose it? Could you damage your usb connection by it bumping into something?
- Usb 3.1 is necessary but 2.0 is useful also. 2 and 2 is best as well as one usb c.
- GPU's are cool, but the dual gpu's will use up 2 hours of the time they predict most always, even when looking at websites. Do you wish to stair at windows and talk to people on buses and trains? Are you a social creature. Perhaps a gpu is the excuse to meet your potential then.
- Not all built in gpu's are good. Sometimes the only thing holding it back is the driver. Be prepared to try every driver made for it until you've found one that meets your needs. Save the file somewhere and try not to let it get updated or changed.
- Windows update not only annoys you but uses many resources while downloading updates. It will cause your fans to rev. Consider this and take anti-update sentimentality seriously.
