Hi,

I opened a project after a long time and I can see empty waveforms in the audio tracks and no sound plays when I hit play.

I have my individual stems saved but might be tedious to import each one by one and place it at the right location, copy channel settings, etc.

Is there a way to retrieve my old project?

Thanks

Most likely you haven't moved the files to the sound pool and Cubase was dynamically "linking" to where they were at the time. Probably you moved the files since then, that's why it can't find them.

Try this:

"tedious to import each one by one and place it"
right click in Pool and "find missing files"; it will replace them in project window once located.

I actually tried copying the missing files from the sample pack library and looks like the files are 16 bit ..
Now when I try to import the 16 bit files to my 24 bit project, the tracks get lot of pauses in the audio file.
Little weird

Well, it's highly unlikely that's Cubase. I never had anything vaguely like that, including importing mp3 to a 64-bit fp project. More likely the files have accrued some corruption.

If I play the files outside of cubase, it works fine.

How the f** did you include 16-bit files in a 24-bit project? Cubase would have force you to resample them, which were then stored in some place (most likely, it would have been the project folder, which you probably had not define before), which you deleted in the meanwhile.

Only way I see to restore your project is to manually resample all the audio files to 24-bit and give them the same names.
