No longer Console 1 exclusive. Softies have added standard, Modular, and Amp Room versions.

Agree. That's one of the best things about the American Class A. The clear UI that avoids looking like hardware.

A lot of competition:
Lindell 80 series
Waves Scheps
and more...

Yes, but how does it compare?

Interesting to see that they add that to Modular... I was expecting some of their other products to be included in Modular first, but you'll get several modules out of it, so that's certainly welcome. I just wish they would come up with a working native Apple Silicon version of Modular, and finally do something about the usability. It's such a fantastic sounding modular, why not make it more accessible? I am sure it would get a lot more love then.

Anyway, would be great to hear about this British Class A from somebody who used it.

I’ve used the Console 1 version since it was released. I’ve always thought that it sounds great. I prefer the sound of the Brit drive to the SSL and definitely to the American Class A (but I’m not an API fan, although I like the compressors). When smooth eq curves work on your material then this is a great eq. The comp is also nice. The Brit works great for the music I make, Reggae and Dub.

3 band eq is a deal breaker for me.

Console 1 version has an extra mid band, which is nice, same frequencies on both mid bands though. I don’t know why developers don’t expand these things a bit more sometimes.

no, because iLok. :x :(

PSA: the rest of today's Softube update was pretty nice. Most of the FX plugins have additional panels that pop open and let you do things like adjust the headroom, gain matching, filtering, phase inversion, clean output gain, along with digital input/output meters.

Yes, ilok is long overdue.

That said, for the time being, I would be happy with a working Rosetta 2 version. For a lot of plug ins, I don't even realize whether they are native or not. However, here, the plug in's GUI doesn't work in native Logic, and the Rosetta version seems to have a memory leak, with memory use growing until the whole RAM is used and I get and error. Grrr.... :?

Which DAW?
In logic it works if you run logic rosetta

Sorry about the confusion - in Rosetta, I get the memory leak, in the native version, I have no working GUI (just a massively magnified small segment of the GUI shows up). Will check the new version, though.

I know the native gui bug - been badgering them for months. Memory leak affects few plugins yeah :x

O.k., there is some kind of progress here with the new versions!... Indeed, the following seem to be working in Logic Native now:
- Model 72
- Model 84
GUI is normal, and they also seem to be stable. Also, Modular works for a short while - the graphics look 'normal', too. However, crashes Logic very quickly.

The rest still have the super sized GUIs. I also noticed that all of their plug ins (and especially the ones with the magnified GUI, plus Modular) use huge segments of memory (Activity Monitor -> AUHostingCompatibiltyService (Logic Pro)). Obviously, there still seem to be problems with their graphics handling. So yeah, beyond the two mentioned above, still not usable in Logic Native.

Anyway, for the time being, I am happy for the return of Model 72 and 84. Hope they can fix these issues soon.
