Can’t see any upgrade offer as as a RX 8 Standard user, but then izotope’s upgrade system is totally borked - eg they are offering me a £299 upgrade to MPS4 and a £149 upgrade to Ozone 9 Advanced when I already own both those products.

Thinking I might go with Spectralayers anyway - looks more interesting

I can upgrade from standard 8 for $49. Anyone tried the music rebalance? If that improved I might upgrade, otherwise I'll stick with 8

Confirmed ARA is just for Logic. Very strange to place that restriction on RX. Anyway, looks like rx10 is the next one I might upgrade to

It really is an underwhelming upgrade on paper, especially Standard.

RX7 standard was my last upgrade - it really is going to take something quite special to have me upgrade again as RX7 pretty much gives me everything I need for restoration work. RX standard has been quite a mature product for a while

Yeah that price to me also gave me a 'sorry, we've not added much but we had to get a new major version out before our shareholders shouted at us' vibe. Those additions should've been a .2 or maybe a .5 point release rather than a whole new number

One small positive from the poor update - at least it proves they're still guided by permanent license purchases, not just subscription!

I bit the bullet and bought an upgrade for RX 9 Advanced from RX 8 Advanced from JRR at $126.65. Don't see it being discounted much lower in the coming year for that upgrade and I have a project on tap where I will need it. If they deliver M1 silicon support within the next 12 months on top of that, it will have been totally worth it. I don't see native ARM being offered ever on RX 8 now that 9 is released.

I can’t confirm, but I’d read that RX8 was improved over RX7 in terms of some things working better. Can’t remember where I saw that so…. I can’t be reassuring. I bought RX 8 upgrade to get RX9 to make it easy to move to RX11 standard in 2 years (but they’ll prob move to subscription only by then for RX). I consider it a maintenance update, like a new DAW update that comes with features I’ll never use.

I agree that RX9 should probably be RX7.5.

I always have confusing upgrade deals and offers on products I own - it's a complete mess!

Has anybody tried RX 9 any version on Win yet?

Can anybody tell me if the VST plugin handling is improved. What I mean by that is there a search function along with better organisation, instead of a huge slowly scrolling list? TIA.

No changes to that in Win - I do have stuff in auto-populated folders by developer / product family, but that's the same in RX8 (there's a preferences checkbox for this).

Thanks for the answer. Looks like it might not have changed since 7 Standard, which I'm on. It does some half-assed attempt at grouping with the box ticked, but it's a mess really.

Like it's grouped Sound-Toys 'Little' items but then leaves the rest scattered through the slowly scrolling list.

I think I'll have to make some presets for my most commonly used items.

Cheers

arrakeen - yes, same for me, the groupings have always been oddly arbitrary and inconsistent, and presets is a least bad way to manage the most-used stuff. I haven't investigated, but there's likely a folder buried somewhere where you can copy old presets into the RX9 folder.
