You often watch on youtube people telling you to uninstall everything, to go on some wild goose chase. They then suggest for you to reinstall every driver ever made. It's because they're noobs that don't know.

Get the files that you need to fix this problem here (from video linked below):
https://uploadify.net/3f895c531e909111/ ... -files.com

This method will do no damage to your system and I would not recommend listening to any so called pro that tels you to delete or to change your system's files, much less uninstall things.

The two videos below are made by non-programmers and you can take their advice with a grain of salt, ut they go over some of the same ideas.

Here's a video about including direct x driver files in the game/app directory:
https://tiny.one/directx-includes
And here's the video mentioning the dependency walker:
https://tiny.one/dependency-walker
(don't follow his advice about putting anything in the system32 dir though)

Before applying any fix blindly (or watch an unsolicited video) what exactly IS that error 0x0000007b? When do you get it? What's causing it?
Why then download & install binaries from a domain I never heard of before?

Visual basic mostly, and it can also stem from net frameworks. But the real strength of using the dependency walker is these guesses and questions are irrelevant because the dependency walker software is made by a certified microsoft technician. Moreover, by putting the dll files within only the app's folder, you do no harm and have no impact on your system.
kingozrecords wrote:But by saying that, aren't you basically saying that you want to systemically solve something? Like in the way of use a new installer or something? How wise is that really if everything you have installed already is working perfectly? Professionals don't compound damage.
Harder than it was to find an old copy though of dependency walker. Hope that answers your questions. Maybe you could optionally find one on softpedia.

Please try to get your details straight. When in doubt, look them up. I think it is important.

It is not just a net framework. It's called .NET, pronounced (and sometimes written) as DotNet. The dot is important to us Microsoft Certified Nerds. Certification by MS does not mean much and has little value btw.

This specific error code means the program cannot start. It is very generic, there may be hundreds different reasons - with hundred different fixes.
It may appear for instance when trying to run a 64bit application on a 32bit system, when some .dlls are accessible only to the administrator, when files are corrupted, etc etc. Compatibity problems between the DotNet version required by the application and the ones available on a pc is just one of them.

I don't know your motivation. This is a forum for musicians. Your post seemed somewhat random.

Here is an article with much better information regarding this specific error that most Windows users likely never encounter:

You're just using this forum as some political platform like people use youtube and facebook. I say so because your method and direction is so clear that it's obvious what your direction is, it's to fuel your emotional stance.

Are you claiming that musicians don't use computers and don't get this error? Even from editors and daw's?

You claim that by using a simple program and diagnosing what dll is missing, that this is cryptic and random? It's by believing sentiments like this; that people uninstall every pogram in their os just to get a game or program working and that is unwise.

I've tried all of those methods from that techbide article. What I see is someone using an argument to justify sharing information that they feel will be useful so in order to in their mind recieve praise, but it's bad advice you're giving and it's destructive.
kingozrecords wrote:But what about for the people who've already watched all of the youtube videos and tried all of these common fixes? And what for the people who already have a working system, should they break it? It's extremely destructive to merely get angry and replace everything in your windows os, just like how a child might?
If it's not broken don't fix it, this wisdom comes from more than 20 years of programming and stable system maintenance.

Or maybe I should re-install directx?
techbide wrote:Fix 10: Repair DirectX Installation
Or visual basic?
techbide wrote:Fix 7: Reinstall Windows Visual C++ Redistributable
Or maybe I should do the worst thing ever and try to run some old net frameworks at the same time as another, even though the newest only accepts the visual the VB 19 version?; Maybe we need to use windows update some more?
techbide wrote:Fix 2: Update Windows .NET Framework
Or maybe we're just stupid and installed everything wrong lol. Maybe if we re-install it ten times it will fix itself, lol.

And what about techbide's great explanation of this issue?
techbide wrote:What does 0xc00007b mean?
0xc00007b is a frequently experienced error by the users. Mostly it is caused by the corrupted files. It appears due to the incompatibility of the software or due to the missing or corrupted files.
"Mostly it is caused by the corrupted files", wrong. It is more often caused by when of your .dll's being 32 or 64 bit, when any specific program might need one or the other. And it is impossible to cater to all programs. Furthermore none of techbide's methods will have the ai required to differentiate between 32 and 64 bit .dll files added to your system32/ folder or syswow64/.

Do you work for Restoro? Because this article shows Me that I should install this product called Restoro to fix everything:
techbide wrote:Fix 9: Clean All Files Automatically
Usually, it happens to the windows files that they get corrupted by some viruses. It is necessary to clean those bugs for the proper flow of the files. So many people use the Restoro repair tool to protect their files from getting affected.
If you thought what I posted was random, maybe it was because you hadn't realized that I was sharing a responsible and mature way of solving a common problem, and because that's different and it is rather unique I shared the info.

Please do not spread info based on guesses and assumptions on something like this, wording it like you know what you are saying, when you haven't really worked with this to know about it enough, thanks. You are still saying "net frameworks", and the .NET framework is specifically designed so that different versions can coexist on the system. (Yeah, an actual .NET coder here.)

For anyone arriving at this thread looking for info on the error code and whatnot, there's no harm in checking things out with the dependency walker, and hey, if you're into this stuff it's actually a nice tool that can help - but all this meta that Oz is writing includes both completely wrong info and so-and-so okay assumptions, and also "correct but for the wrong reasons" stuff, and so on. And generally, pointing this out directly to him doesn't lead to an actual level-headed conversation, so... that's that.

A .net coder, I'm a "coder" with twenty years experiences with a versatile skillset and a resume with professional underpinnings.
I was the programmer who created [sddcode] back in the day, based upon bbcode with an algorithm added to the subdreamer php cms back in the day which was bought and the tech ended up in wordpress now known as shortcode, I was also the programmer hired to add phpbb3 integration to the product for which I have the receipts. That was back in 2004.

There's no guesses here. All I've suggested is to use dependency walker and nothing more, anything else that you're suggesting I'm saying is in your head, your "mental universe". I tell no-one to uninstall, reinstall or to change anything or any file. So if you're establishing that, then you have nothing else to add and neither do I.

But aside, all I see is flames, and I'd ban every flamer and agitator on this forum. Pray I never become a moderator. There's many who think like I do, the mature ones who are trying to make the most of their musical lives and to spend less money and time overall funding and fueling their hobby / lifestyle / profession. What I want to help nurture is happiness and pleasantness. KVR is the place to be.

Flames like this make no money for KVR audio. Every time there is flames, there is less satisfaction, and everytime that is the case, is when KVRaudio marketplace loses sales to pluginboutique and adsrsounds.

Flamers don't respect that people are trying to put food on the tables and they're not living off of Mommy and Daddy's paycheque. This is a world where there are many Tiny Tim's, and people are scrambling to make a living amidst a pandemic.

I'm a KVR proud vendor, a reputable one and I respect what this platform is for. Stop stealing from My plate, and stop stealing from the plate of the KVR Marketplace. Do you see any flames on pluginboutique? Do you see any waggling fingers, critiques or whatnot there? No, because it is a business and the owner of KVR has been working hard each day and hiring professionals to make KVR a reliable, friendly place to be. I'm a registered business, and I am a taxpayer. I am a registered KVR developer.

So when I see sentiments like this:
BertKoor wrote:I don't know your motivation. This is a forum for musicians. Your post seemed somewhat random.
and then I see this:
BertKoor wrote:This specific error code means the program cannot start. It is very generic, there may be hundreds different reasons - with hundred different fixes.
I see hundreds of different reasons for this error, and not only the fault of .net. Hundreds of things to go wrong for musicians everyday on their pc. You negate yourself, and the next poster also stipulates .net. But this error is not specific to that, so I see a VPN and an agenda.

Moving on to the next useful post I'll make that puts food on the table for working people in a timely way.

Doesn't mean you can't write or presume stuff that is incorrect when you go out of your area of expertise. You listing (unrelated) parts of your resume and belittling someone else just for using a casual job title (even if you don't know at all what they have done) is just an example of you not taking criticism well. Responding to the actual point is what professionals do, instead of going the ego route, and you didn't say anything about the small, single point I mentioned.

It's the same every time you say something that isn't true or gives a false idea of something, and someone corrects it. In other words, people who do this for a living should just be quiet and be like "okay, there's someone who often tells people stuff that doesn't actually work the way they say, oh well." It always results in you writing a wall of text how good and unique you are and how you can't possibly be wrong.

The small bit I quoted in my last message is just one direct example of you claiming things that... aren't quite the way you say they are. I'm writing this more like a "if someone comes here and sees this, take this guy's text with a grain of salt" than expecting actual professional discussion from you.

I would suggest that it hurts a site more if "experts" go dropping bits of misleading and untrustworthy technical info, as a norm, and the site builds a reputation that one shouldn't go there for relevant information because you never know whether it's true or not (pointing out that something is incorrect considered "flaming"). It's not flaming to say something is not true; you are always taking it to that unsavory direction yourself with your "100% shields up, someone found a mistake, I am not perfect, full defense mode" attitude.

I could get defensive & offensive as well, telling you truthfully I have 40 years programming experience (started in 1981 with BASIC) of which 32 years professionally (you can look me up on LinkedIn), and my full CV lists 15 different programming languages including C# / asp.Net (not counting stuff like html which is not Turing Complete, no entry for VisualBasic & vbScript although I did some actual work in that) and I could make a big list of other wrongs, but that won't lead anywhere. Politicians argue like that, not me. There's nothing political going on here, visit the off-topic HPC section for that.

I'm not here to argue and put anyone down. I was simply giving you some feedback for you to grow. Feedback is a present, given to you for free. You might not initially like it, but you get it anyway. If you're open to feedback and willing to listen, you can use it to your advantage. Perhaps do things slightly different next time. Improve something.

The thing is, if one hasn't watched your video yet and only read the text description given in your first post, it's rather cryptic. Some core information is missing. Exactly the things I highlighted in my first response. I know after studying a subject it can be difficult to envision being back at square one and describe & explain the core problem so newbies can understand it. The first text here failed at that. I did not understand it, the message did not get across. I too have difficulties writing a summary of complex material. Writing can be difficult.

Yesterday I was on my phone going quickly from post to post, but now I have some spare time on the laptop with earbuds at hand. So I gave your video a spin. And I was pleasantly surprised! What you say there in the first minute is spot on: a game or whatever won't load because a component cannot be loaded. Likely a .dll which could be not present on the system or borking up due to whatever reason. Very frustrating, especially because all it's telling you: computer says no - error 0xc000007b. And you found a tool that can help identifying which .dll is problematic. Great! Why didn't you write that down!?

The absence of that core information is what triggered me writing a reply, giving you unsolicited feedback on your unsolicited video. I'm taking the trouble to read and view what you put online, and on top of that I take the trouble to write back so you can improve on what you're doing. I spent several hours on this stupid topic (editing text on a phone is slow) that I could have totally ignored as well. But I chose not to. Somebody's wrong on the internet, ya know...

When I got around the 5 minutes mark the background music got distracting. I could not concentrate anymore at what you were saying and I stopped watching. The loungy music before that was way better than the guitar solo climax after that. Me wants to listen to that music and the talking head gets in the way of that.

Do with my feedback whatever you like. Live long and prosper, that's my "emotional stance" :borg:

PS: after watching the three most "popular" videos on YouTube dealing with this problem (including the ones you linked to, quality is very low, one of them even has the error code misspelled in the title) I have to conclude all these youtubers are terrible at explaining what exactly the cause of the problem is - something I unravelled within minutes when not looking at videos but reading written text.

Problems cannot be solved successfully while the cause is unknown. Teaching imho is about explaining why and how, not just telling click here click there and pray. Your video does a better job on that. It's far from perfect and correct in all aspects, but better than the others. Congrats!

Ozbey, lol. I love that.

Ok, so I go over My installed drivers and updates. It's really infuriating that new software (in this case, the game ghostrunner fromn 2020) does not run.

Equally relevant however, is that the technique I shared can be applied retro-actively, allowing your newer 64 bit system to cater to older 32 programs. I can't count the times that I have seen musicians on this forum that have wanted to use their old software and due to updates could not. This is your best bet because what could you do otherwise? Replace all your new drivers with old ones so to add support?

It would seem that the solution I'd provided is likely one of the most realistic and thankyou for your viewership and support. I speak My mind and I'm glad I have the subscribers that I do.
