Cubase 10.5 issue with midi notes duplicating themselves. PC

Just started happening. I would record a few notes and go into the key editor to drag a note up or down but end up drag duplicate notes out of the original note over and over again until I'm staring at a bunch of midi notes.
Also seems I can't erase the original midi note until I first erase the duplicates I had dragged out of them. I'm not using "All Midi Inputs" option and I don't have a "local" button on my workstation and I even reinstalled Cubase.
This does not happen with the built in drum pads. Each drum hit only produces one midi note.
Any Cubase experts out there? tia.
