Seems uncomfortably familiar somehow
Gibson got Cakewalk and the rest is history. I like Studio One and I surely hope it's got a better future than Cakewalk got in the hands of Gibson.

Uh oh.... Studio One 6, subscription only, €79.99 a month.
Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Does Fender have the same rep as Gibson though? (still very bitter ex opcode user here)
I don't think SB has suffered after its acquisition by Yamaha..

Fender is just a brand name these days and it is managed by a private equity company...

Are you sure about that?
I think they just broke the updates into two parts but the sum remained more or less the same, no? (that is if one went from Cubase 4 to 5 and it cost $X, at some point when the .5 updates happened if you went from 9 to 9.5 and it cost $A, and then from 9.5 to 10 and it cost $B), that $X was roughly equal to $A + $B.
Is this not so?

I was a long time Sonar user who switched to Reaper when Gibson bought Cakewalk and the transition took a little bit of time, but it has been well worth the effort...HM wrote: Mon Nov 01, 2021 3:27 pm Dammm ,... paid for the latest version.

But I am pleasantly surprised by BL's commitment to the Cakewalk DAW and it has been getting some love and attention...
It's still a bit of a tractor to drive compared to Reaper, but it's a solid and reliable DAW with some great features

Here's some information on the merger which still has to gain regulatory approval:
“Fender envisions an ecosystem that seamlessly integrates hardware and software to create an effortless end-to-end experience for customers at all levels in their creative journey,” the statement continued, “and joining forces with PreSonus makes that possible.”

[EDIT: Tek beat me to it]
Here's a link to the Press Release:
https://www.prnewswire.com/news-release ... 12539.html
...hopefully there's no significant impact to Studio One, but honestly I'm using Reaper pretty much full-time these days so this wouldn't have a huge impact on me. Unfortunately, it seems like there's just a lot of money out in the world these days with too few places for people to put it, so the stock market is hot, there's lots of capital all around, VC's gobbling things up...it usually ends badly (see Roli). That said, Fender has managed to continue to put out decent guitars (unless you hate those Pao Ferro fretboards) while being under private equity control for a while. Hopefully they let Presonus do their thing.

It doesn't "usually end badly" It ends badly sometimes. Nobody notices it unless it does end badly. not the same thing.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Mon Nov 01, 2021 4:41 pm VC's gobbling things up...it usually ends badly (see Roli)

The only thing that concerns me right now is Studio One going subscription only.
