Looking for something similar to the pitch shifter built into the tim henson archetype with the ability to shift to specific midi notes, do in scale harmony, etc but without being stuck to a guitar amp sim (I just want the shifter) and preferably iLok free.

Are you talking VST or hardware?
If VST, look no further than Pitch Innovations Fluid Pitch - does the job with a minimum of fuss

Audiowish Diatonic Shifter 2 (mac only)

I think MUnison is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much!
Nectar's harmony functions also do I what I want, I just don't want to pay for a whole suite of other effects I don't want alongside.

I got the eventide one for free and it's pretty spiffy. I think it does use iLok though. It's often on sale for very cheap. It's called quadvox or something. I don't have my machine in front of me. I know that there's a bigger better version that is an 8 voice. It works very well.
The Melda stuff is also fun and easy. MUnison and MHarminizer are both great too but they seem to take a bit more time for "natural" type sounds.

Eventide Quadravox and Octavox are good, they do sum their input to mono though.
