After I updated Reaktor 4 and Kompakt to their newest versions, Cubase SX 2.2 crashes at startup. It seems to scan VST plugins fine, but crashes while "Initializing: DirectX Plugins". Checking the error details, KompaktVST.dll is identified as the problematic file. Now, indeed removing the file from my VST Plugins folder allows SX to start normally.

However, I need the file. When nothing worked, I uninstalled the whole Komplete 2 bundle and reinstalled it, this time without installing the DXi plugins. What a waste of time. However, now when Cubase crashes while initializing DirectX plugins, it identifies FM7.dll and after removing that, FM7fx.dll as the file(s) causing trouble. Bizarre.

Code: Select all

AppName: cubasesx.exe AppVer: 2.2.0.33 ModName: fm7.dll
ModVer: 1.1.0.16 Offset: 000717ca
So I uninstalled my audio drivers (kX drivers for Live) and reinstalled them to no avail. I proceed to reinstall Cubase SX 2. Nothing changed. Next, I try updating my DirectX 9.0b to 9.0c at Microsoft's pages. Didn't have an effect.

I'm running out of ideas here. This problem's really crippling me, FM7 is one of my most often used synths, I can't afford to remove it from my VST Plugins folder. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
