I think it's cool that they worked on the usability of Waverazor and came up with a powerfull and yet simpler version that's having the user in mind. Fast and intuitivly tweaking sounds but yet the crazy complex wave slicing oscillator right at your finger tips.
Enjoy ...

The text is still too small and hard to read, the default color palette and most of the available alternates make the readability even worse, and it still looks like l33t haxxor "if you were wired enough you'd be able to interpret this" stuff from 3 decades ago.] Peter:H [ wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 6:48 pm I think it's cool that they worked on the usability of Waverazor and came up with a powerfull and yet simpler version that's having the user in mind. I'd much rather have a functional interface than one that looks like The Matrix and comes available in Klingon.
Still, I tried the demo. The online registration simply told me I didn't have a license, and the offline key generation timed out with an error on their web server.

Hey
I made a long sound demo. I really enjoy the synth. The character is unique, yes razor-sharp as MOK says. The user-interface s definitely an upgrade compared to Waverazor which was very nerdy. However, the CPU usage is very high. With my old i9 (because tomorrow M1 Max), I reach the maximum :S.

Yeah.. I'm sorry to say that, it sounds interesting, but this GUI just doesn't work for me.

Hm, first you guys noticed that the gui is resizable. Bottom right corner ... it resizes to whatever size you want. I can fill almost all of my monitor.
For your eyes. I'm really concerned about what you wrote. I tend to invest in good equippment, a.) a good big monitor, b.) a ergonomic working environment (avoid reflections, have a good seat position) and c.) in current glasses ...that reflect the state of my eyes ... and I did a color blindness test. good, my doctor told me no red/green blindness. So I can use red/blue without a problem.
Anyways when I resize the GUI and select my pleasing colour scheme (blue/green) then the Vector Font is crystal clear as the whole GUI is.
And on top I like the star trecky design. I'm open to and curious about new things in general ... but that is my take on things.
Thanks for the nice demo! After all it is a innovative synth and it makes some cool noize... in red and blueMillerSam wrote: Thu Nov 11, 2021 8:22 pm Hey

That GUI ... looks like they wanted to make it "edgy and modern" but ended up with "ugly and unreadable" isntead. Hope the other themes people mention here have at least more reasonable color combinations
But that Miller Sam's demo does sound good, really nice character in some of the patches.

You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

i run waverazor in one of its 'retro' colour schemes, not because they're retro but because they're way less eye-searing. it doesn't help with the entirely counter-intuitive editor but it's a start.
hopefully, they've made assigning modulators less of a headscratcher with this one.
however, the fact they still think having it display Klingon is cool tells you everything you need to know about their sense of aesthetics.

I have a 29" ultrawide, I've been wearing corrective lenses for almost 40 years, and I have zero trouble with the great majority of synth plugins or other software. Do you think MAYBE the problem is poor design choices by MOK? No, surely it's the rest of the universe that's wrong

I'm a big fan of waverazor - took me a while to figure out all the routings etc but I really do like that synth, and for stuff outside of the wave-slicing aspect too.
Having audio-rate modulation for ringmod and filter fm in miniraze is a nice addition over waverazor, but it's not enough to warrant the $129 for me as an existing waverazor owner.
Hope he does some kind of cross-grade around the $70 mark and I'll be all over it.
regarding the UI, I run it pretty much fullscreen on a 27" monitor. tried the other colors but end up using the red/blue. Might not be the easiest color scheme to live with, but it suits the feel for me.

I had a quick look at the manual - which is missing a lot but it seems they've kept the same attitude to midi control as for waverazor, which is to support sod all. you've got mod-wheel, aftertouch, sustain pedal, pitch bend, and...that's about it. no midi learn, which waverazor doesn't have either.
back in 2018, one of them wrote they were looking at MPE but as they don't seem to want to support even regular expression, foot or breath, on their latest synth seems even further off than it was before.
you basically have to jump through the hoops of mapping midi to host automation, which isn't really great news for a synth that's supposedly easier to use, but rob thinks that's great because that's what he does. basically, if you don't want one-fingered lfo-heavy patches, you're SooL (other than jumping through those hoops). they seem condemned to repeat their mistakes.

It's a cut down version of waverazor but more expensive? I don't understand what it is or why it exists when waverazor already exists. Maybe someone can explain.
Edit: Wait it's not on the traction website. Is this so they can divorce from Traction?
