Hi everyone,
In this video, I check out TAIP in the context of my song 'House of Postcards', trying to create a feeling of nostalgia to the whole track by using the plugin on the master buss, enhancing the drum buss and bringing some smooth character and modulation on the lead vocal.

Looks to me like a creator working to promote their channel and work. Did you watch the video? It's comprehensive and very well split into chapters. That's a lot of work! He's also not selling or shilling. I don't see how it's spam. We should support these kinds of creators because they provide us very useful and valuable content like plugin reviews and over-views.

But... but... he's using his own original music to test the plugin instead of the requisite 4-bar drumloop on repeat! That must be against KVR rules somewhere.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Major faux pas. And it's not hip hop!jamcat wrote: Sat Nov 20, 2021 4:31 am But... but... he's using his own original music to test the plugin instead of the requisite 4-bar drumloop on repeat! That must be against KVR rules somewhere.
Good on him. Subscribed. I found the video useful. Definitely not spam.

Hey man, thanks so much for your great and kind words. I do use my own songs in my videos, in the end, I'm a musician and yes, I do want people to know about what I do because the songs I write mean a lot to me. I've been making music for almost 20 years now, and I don't see a problem doing this. Quite the opposite, what I want to do is to show to people that it's possible to compose, produce and mix your own work even if other people tell you that 'you'll never be good at it'.plexuss wrote: Sat Nov 20, 2021 3:27 amLooks to me like a creator working to promote their channel and work. I share affiliate links to products like these and try to mention it every time I do. And to be honest, I used to do more affiliate work in the past but have slowed down because of comments like the one above, even after spending 30h+ on single videos.
Throughout December, I'll exclusively be reviewing free plugins and sample libraries. I know that people are spending a lot of money these days and hopefully they'll find free stuff that can help them in their journey.
Thanks again for your words! I've generally had great feedback on KVR. If you guys think there's something I'm not doing right, let me know in a constructive comment or send me a DM.
Cheers!

Thanks for sharing! Already watched this video before reviewing the product, I really like SonicState
I like the fact that TAIP analyses the incoming signal before imparting its character to it. There are more and more of these 'AI-powered' plugins / libraries coming out. Something like Soundpaint is pretty impressive to me in its concept.

not this time.
yes, we do have a lot of people who drop nothing but a video link, no text, and dont reply to comments.
thomc does reply and chat back and forth, so it's different imo, see it as a conversation starter

So what do you guys think about TAIP? Any good to your ears? Have you tried it out?
My preference still goes to IK's Tape Collection when it comes to smoothness, dynamics, rounding off the edges and adding that extra (brace yourselves for the buzzword) 'warmth' on the mix buss. But as an effect and on instrument busses, TAIP is actually really useful. Love it on drums so far, the drive control is super satisfying to work with (there's a slight pleasing visual latency going on).
AND... It doesn't kill your CPU

personally havent tried it, i do mostly recording of hardware, so already have "noise" in the system and mix.
in the video, it does sound nice though, for itb stuff, i can see the need to maybe sometimes add that "warmth" as we shall call it here, not everyone will want that of course, but its nice we have decent sounding options these days
the only "tape" emu i have, is reels from audio thing, which is more of a delay, but obviously can be used for tape saturation duties, its also very nice considering its cost

Since you like working with hardware units, what do you think is still missing from the plugin world? With new things and improvements coming out everyday, there's definitely plenty of choices to try and bring 'warmth' in the box.
Reels is pretty cool, I love Audiothing. Their Valve emulation is really nice too

the only thing imo that isnt quite there, is fuzz.
while its very close, theres just a special something about the way real fuzz pedals react on a guitar, the way the sound dies off, sort of deteriorates.
the way things are going forward though, i cant see it being long before even that is done!
the hardware i like for the hands on approach, but sound wise, synths especially and many fx, i love my software too
